Sony' s online service will definitely fight a hard battle with Xbox Live before it surpasses it (if ever).

Sony will try to give a run for their money, they may not be better than the 360' s live, but it' ll be a big improvement on the ps2 online... That can only be good for gamers.

After reading stuff from that link I think Sony has a huge potential to crash XBL , but they aren' t the kind of company that surpasses anyones expectations so I' ll shut up for the time being :)

I think they will definately HAVE to put something into place, but i can' t see Sony actually focusing on beating Xbox Live. I think they just want to not only add a little something else but to satisfy customer demand.

I don' t like the fact that it would be charged for (regular payments) like that. I think Live' s 3/6/12 months subscriptions are just fine. I DO NOT WANT TO BE PAYING EVERY MONTH!

As it stands it sounds just like their version of Live, with demo' s trailers etc available for download. But the thing is that before the years out Live will have at least doubled its features.

What i would recommend or do if i wasa sony was something equal to xbox live but not nearly as good,and that was free,that is the only way...however sony has seen they can make money into live suscribition and know they got a big fanbase and will ofc take advantage of that.

they can' t do it like live and free, it costs money.

Someone just told me that the ps3 will cost 400 bucks and that sony have been holding out purposefully and have ssaid that the ps3 will be expensive just to fool the competiton. apparently a sony worker told him. obviously im not totally believing this but it could be true, it does make sense in one way.

When DEVELOPERS say that because of the hardware that' s in PS3 it will be expensive, then it' s probably going to be expensive.

Blu-Ray alone adds more than $100 to the cost of development for every console manufatured. Couple that with all the other shit in there and you have a machine that' s very pricey for them to build.

Sony had to do something eventually, they' ve been giving lip service about digital content delivery since prior to the PS2 launch, and none of those things were even close to being realized this generation. Hell, Microsoft in a way, was the one who delivered on some of Sony' s promises with Xbox Live, lol.. So I think with the PS3, Sony has to either put up or shut up as far as their plans for any type of online service goes..

BIG NEWS people , according to next-gen.biz, one of heir mysterious sources said that sony will make announcement about its online service in the next few weeks, and it' s called Playstation hub.

the mystrious sources goes on to say that the launch date in japen will be the 16th and the 21th September in the US...

Hopefuly that' s true about THE U.S launch

Well it' d be about time sony made some kind of announcement

God, y' know if people would read threads from the beginning then they' d see that Sony is expected to make announcements at DevStation in March, which just happens to be all about PS3 this year!

but we all know about that... this is just something to do in the time we wait...

and in anycase any announcement right now is welcomed and long overdue...

I wouldn' t say it' s overdue.

The damn thing isn' t launching until at least summer for Japan and fall in the US.

It' s normal for things to be left until E3.

Wherever if you dig sony or not,we all should bve very intrested into see what NR and PS3 can show with next-gen.
We saw FF7 tech demo,it was freaking awesome,i want to see if other dev dcan reach the same quality.

before people say-pre-rendered,s-e said it was real time,and they done 2 techj demos before with n64/ps2 and both was truthful,we all saw ff8 tech demo on ps2,and it looked like ff10.

i forgot to mention the month !!

I don' t doubt PS3 can display graphics like FF7 tech demo - it wasn' t that impressive - the only thing I liked about it, was that it was the FF7 demo :)

I think ff7 tech demo was the most impressive video at e3.
Ofc some say killzone2,but for me that was pre-rendered.
What was amazing about ff7 tech demo was the detailed character,and that Square-enix assume they can build huge vast world in 3d with this engine.
