I understood more watching FF:AC without subs than with. Some things just doesn' t make any sense and the dialogue is often terrible. But it still looks cool and it has great FF feeling. Cid really surprised me, In the game I thought he was older than what he seems to be in the movie. Barrets voice actor sucks.

I didn' t expect more from it since Spirits Within was odd too. I have an extensive collection of anime and i always feel like i' m missing something. I never watch anything dubbed but stuff like Urotsukidoji, Rayearth etc just often don' t make sense. Do you think the Japanese have the same problems with stuff like Shrek, Ice Age, Toy Story etc?!

Oh, and if you' re into anime, you should check out Paranoia Agent, it' s really good!

...Urotsukidoji 1&2 is my all time favourite anime i think (even more than FOTHS, GITS, and Akira) ..... ..i love it' s " don' t give a f*ck attitude about who it may or may not offend.... ....any more like if in your extensive collection?...

.....after the first wave of Anime in the west, i have yet to been adequately moved to check any new releases.... they all seem.... i dunno... pointless?....

...or is it just a case of good titles not being released in the west after the " Golden Years" in the late nineties??

...actually, i did get the first couple of GITS:SAC, but i thought they were genrally crap... (i hate half hour shows, whats the point?)....

EDIT: ..i men FOTNS doh!...

I have tons of stuff. I mean i' m only 23 but i remember watching 3x3 Eyes, Akira, Ghost In The Shell, Patlabor, Dominion Tank Police etc, back in 95, 96. Most of the stuff shown on TV now sucks. GITS:SAC isn' t as good as the original film and is marketed to a younger audience.

I' m more interested in stuff that' s had a lot of effort put into it. Any feature by Production IG is worth watching.

But if you want stuff like Urotsukidoji then you need; Angel of Darkness (4 parts), Beast Vs Spygirl, Gakuen, Beast City, Devilman, The LA Blue Girl collection, Oni Tensei, Phantom Hunter Miko, Twin Angels, Bride Of Darkness etc.

My email address is majikdragoon@hotmail.com - if you want to be able to download most of these free and without using torrents let me know and i' ll point you in the right direction. I' m only talking to Bishonen here!

Hey Majikdra6on, I' m actually a big fan of anime. Could I write to you about these anime eps? I haven' t found any interesting anime dvds here in toronto (and there' s not many either, just some crappy shit). So I have to download them. Recently tho I haven' t been able to get my hands on any anime cuz they' re harder to find for me. If u' d be as kind as to reply to this.

read that page, and the comments too, it' ll take 3 mins max. It' s very helpful information about blu ray and its advantages, which in the end might become the medium of choice, if price becomes reasonable.

Oh, Majik, my e-mail is saimir.avdyllari@gmail.com

I think the searching for oil makes sense. The use of mako in FFVII was what made the world die, right? So what' s more suitable for the heroes who saved the world than to search for a new alternative fuel for the people? I guess oil isn' t the best thing for the nature either but I think it beats mako.

I don' t get it. I mean i' ve encoded high quality MPEG-2 stuff before but i can tell the difference when i encode to H.264. Why are they talking about compression methods that will need to be used for 3 hr films?! Surely Blu0Ray should give them enough space to work that they don' t have to worry about stuff like that. That' s how i understood what Sony had been saying previously.

Personally i can' t see Sony pulling it. They' ve always had trouble with in-house developed medium, mini-disc, betamax etc. With Blu-Ray having a potentially high production flaw rate, and potential compatability issues being raised in that discs from different production lines won' t necessarily be compatible with every Blu-Ray player released, i think HD-DVD has some major advantages.

Toshiba HD-DVD players will hit the US in March and there will be 2 available models, priced at; $499 and $799 USD. The high-end model will feature improved output connections for home theater aficionados who have componentized systems.

Pioneer is set to launch a $1,800 Blu-ray player in May.

Now bear in mind that of the American Film Institute' s Top 100 movies, more than 60 were from studios supporting the HD DVD format, and a majority of the major-grossing films of the last three years were from those same studios. And by the end of 2006 HD DVD will have roughly 200 titles available, which is more than Blu-ray has announced so far.

Sony' s only chance is for PS3 to succeed as they intend, but people are likely to be put off if the price is too high. Now i understand Kens comment about PS3 not being a games machine, because they obviously intend it to be a vehicle for their Blu-Ray format first and foremost.

Yeah i tend to agree. Also To my it' s like the PSP, they care more about making movies for it then games. I went to toys r us and i saw like 4 movies or so to ever one game. ALso the games aren' t even that good. Most of the reviews are either average to good with the exception of lumines but i have heard mixed reviews about GTA some say it is awesome and some say yeah it was ok but very buggy and very slow loading times.

I think you are right about Kutaragi saying it was a super computer to make the HIGH price seem more feasable.

I got GTA:LCS on day of release and immediately loved it. Yes it has horrible loading times (not as bad as Midnight Club 3) and yes it' s full of bugs, but it' s GTA on the go, i mean what more can you really ask from a handheld?!

The whole more UMD' s than games thing is a joke though, Sony really need to get there act together. No wonder they' re having their asses kicked by DS in Japan. I' m not sure they' re even that bothered though. The whole thing about only the richest developers will be able to put games out on PS3 is starting to make sense now, y' know, i don' t think Sony are marketing PS3 to kids or teenagers, i think they' re going after an older market who have lots more money to spend on expensive hardware and HDTV' s.

yeah i agree with you on the marketing thing to older crowd that is the same thign with the PSP it' s not a kids toy and it' s not kid proof.

Personally i don' t really care for GTA i remember playing the first one and was like hehe this is crazy i am running over people and it was fun for a few tiems then it wore out on me and i never really cared about playing it.

By the way i seem to think that there is NO way the average parent will buy their kid a PS3. Unless you have the annoying spoiled brat.

I just read cnet.com thing about the new HD-DVD and Blu-Ray players at CES and they were all kinda ugly the Blu-Ray ones were HUGE and were as awful looking att he PS3 boomerang controller and by the way apparently they changed the SP3 controller i read it was not shown at CES but some new picture of their new prototype. But no games or nothing was said about the PS3. I will look for the link to the players but for now i need to go to work.

Yeah the Blu-Ray players don' t look very nice at all!

The PS3 pad they showed at E3 was a concept since they can' t just make a wireless Dual Shock pad because they stole the technology and got sued successfully. So, they have to come up with another pad, and they won' t be too keen to show it yet because of all the praise 360' s pad has gotten.

Ha, did anyone see the Dual FX rip off mof REV' s controller for the PS2. It looks rubbish!

The thing that struck me about CES as far as Sony is concerned is that on the PS3 display case it says ' Conceptual Design' , and rumours are that Sony hasn' t yet managed to make all the technology planned for PS3 fit inside the shell yet, which is a little worrying!

I' m beginning to think that they' ll be dropping back on the games front and just use PS3 to get a Blu-Ray player into as many homes as possible.

Ha, off topic, has anyone else seen the cutscenes in Amped 3? They' re great!! Oh, and don' t get Ridge Racer 6, it sucks ass. I love RR for PSP but 6 sucks ass. If you like driving games then PGR3 is a must and NFS:MW is pretty impressive, but Burnout 360 is on it' s way so that and PGR3 will be the better racers.

hmm interesting i did not know the PS3 console might undo go some changes itself. I am just worried about the price seeing how everythign is so damn expensive in it.

THe only reason why i have a PS2 is for the RPGs so unless i am impressed with some games i might hold off on it and be happy with my DS, Rev, and X360 (i wil get one when the RPGs also come out hope the mistwalker games are as good as i hope.)

Majikdra6on I' m more interested in stuff that' s had a lot of effort put into it

... yeah me too.... ..i mean isn' t anime supposed to be about truly stunning technical animation? ...whenever i go to a big store and check the anime section, apart from the golden oldies, it' s full of just crap!! ... shitty animation, poor characters and stories etc or it' s Dragon Ball Z, Pokemon and Sailor Moon[:' (][:' (][:' (][:' (]

...F*ck kiddie anime, i want high-production realistic anime films... ..that' s what made my discovery of it back in ' 99 so awesome.... ...films like FIST OF THE NORTH-STAR totally blew my mind ...like I' d been shot in the head with a magnum!!!

...what happened to anime' s edge? ...it all seems totally watered down to me these days... ...or have distributors in the west just stopped bothering? ..I' ve yet to see films like GITS: INNOCENCE anywhere...

...excuse my psycho ravings..

... HD-DVD versus Bu-Ray.... ..i just found out that Apple are going to be supporting Sony' s format..... guess they really don' t like M$.....

hey everyone get a load of this.

http://www.engadget.com/2006/01/10/samsung-sez-combo-hd-dvd-blu-ray-player-is-a-no-go/

Samsung sez combo HD DVD/Blu-ray player is a no go?

Last we heard, things degraded from gung-ho to so-so for Samsung on the prospect of going in on a dual-mode device that' d bridge the gap between HD DVD and Blu-ray for the consumer. But it looks like guarded has now turned to closed-until-further-notice according to a SVP of Marketing at Samsung North America, Peter Weedfald. We had no idea there were licensing agreements in place that prevented a dual-mode player, but apparently " Until everyone agrees to check their egos at the door and help the consumer, there is nothing [Samsung] can do about a universal product." And thus today our final hope for a truce -- even if involuntary on the part of both warring factions -- is dashed. We' re not going to worry too much, however, you know how these things like to turn around every fifteen minutes, or how tech execs get " misquoted" and rescind.
