Virtua Racing Deluxe for the 32X!

I also was playing quite a bit of Sword of Vermilion for the Sega 16-bit Genesis Multimedia Videogame Entertainment System.

I am currently hooked on Phantasy Star Online Blue Burst! The same day the beta started for PSOBB I also got WoW, but WoW never stood a chance against my old, newly blooming love...

Other than that I played REZ recently...

Lately I have been playing the Suffering, I beat it as a good person, and then now I am working for the evil ending.

Recently I played the 40 meg Super Street Fighter 2 for the Genesis. Wow. 40 megs of SHEER POWER! You will not be able to withstand the overwhelming quality of this 40 meg masterpiece! The 40 megs will BLOW YOU AWAY! 40 megs! I bet Sega themselves could have made the game better with only 22 megs. Capcom should never have been allowed to program themselves for the Genesis. All of the good Capcom Genesis games were reprogrammed by Sega themselves (Ghouls ' n Ghosts, Strider, Forgotten Worlds, Mercs, etc) and I wish Street Fighter 2 would have been the same.

I then played Street Fighter 2 Turbo on the SNES and it was much better. It was even in stereo! It still had huge black bars on the top and bottom of the screen like the Genesis version, though.

I then played Street Fighter 2 collection for the Saturn. WOW it totally SMASHED both the Genesis and the SNES versions!

Last night I played through the story mode of Day of Reckoning 2 in one sitting.. Ahh good times!

How is that Ghost in the Shell on PSP? Has anyone played the PS2 version (GITS: SAC)? How is that?

I' ve only played the PSP version. It' s easily comparable to Coded Arms since they' re currently the only two FPS games for the PSP... Despite my dislike for the FPS genre I found Ghost in the shell quite an interesting game.. For whatever reason, genres that I' ve always disliked I' m actually enjoying on the PSP for some reason. RPGs, Card Battle games and now a First Person shooting game. In Ghost in the Shell it' s pretty cool the way you' re partnered up with these fancy AI bots called Tachikoma. You can arm them with a variety of weapons and pilot them through levels as well give them commands and let them roam around on their own and do all sorts of damage to whatever enemies they encounter. The game is definitely WAY more varied than Coded Arms as there are a variety of mission objectives to complete throughout the game, it' s not just blast your way from point a to point b like Coded Arms.

I recently played Sega Ages SDI/Quartet and Sega Ages Space Harrier II. The SDI/Quartet package is nicely done with some cool arranged music on the title screen plus the ability to play the arcade or Master System versions of each game, US or JP. The Space Harrier collection is a tad weak but still cool. No music at all except for the poorly emulated game sound. It lets you play Space Harrier 3D in 2D mode or with red and blue 3D glasses which give you the exact same 3D effect as the real Master System game except that it is no longer in true color in this mode.

What is great about both of these collections is that they both support 240p and 480p in the options. 480p for HDTV owners (since HDTV makes 240p look NASTY) and 240p for regular TV owners so that the games look exactly like the old systems would output them, except with the nicer PS2 video (S-video, etc). There is also a 480i option but I don' t know why anyone would choose that. 240p rules for these games (use the ZOOM mode for MS games and choose the 512 resolution for the MS games as well).

I' ve been planning to pick up both games soon but didn' t do so sooner because they seemed to be straightforward emulations of the classic games without any added bonuses?

Pretty much correct. They do let you view artwork and US and JAP instriction manuals plus boxes and all that, and each and every game has a sound test. Unfortunately there is no such thing as a perfect emulator so the emulations have a few flaws, especially Space Harrier 2.
