Its not just better image quality, you see more to the left and right. SD is like they choped off the sides of a HD screen and smeared junk on the screen to make it blurry. HD isn' t that great but once you' re used to it, SD is total crap. Because SD players are missing like 30 % of the screen, on the sides. Its that much harder for them to win matches online. It means that there will be many times when the enemy can see you but you can' t see them.

ORIGINAL: Silentbomber HD is nothing great. A better picture? yeah. but thats it, and I can and will play my games on sdtv tv for many years to come until the time I have the money to buy one. I am not too bothered if I cant read some text. What' s your point? The difference between VHS and DVD is just a " better picture" but you' re not still watching movies on VHS are you? 640x480 resolution to 1920x1080 is huge buddy. Get a job and buy a HDTV. Play a PC game at 1600x1200 or so and then play it at 640x480, it will look like shit, thats what SDTV looks like. Actually most modern PC games dont even support 648x480 thats how old and shitty that resolution is.

I don' t understand why there would be reading required in a video game. We' re video gamers... we' re obviously illiterate.

Screw anything you can' t run in 1080p. It' s crap if it' s not in widescreen. Presentation isn' t the only consideration in games. High-Def is okay, but to spend any large amount of money on something to make my current games look nicer (as opposed to spending money on new & better games) makes no sense. I' m perfectly happy with my SD-tv right now, and I may or may not update to a pc monitor sometime soon. I' m not happy with the current level of image persistence and burn on current LCD' s & plasma' s, so I' ll worry about updating when the companies stop throwing weight on standard definition displays. Because if you haven' t already seen, all three of the next generation consoles support your basic Yellow/White/Red Standard Definition connection.

Tough shit. Why would anyone buy a 360 before a HD TV? they are so cheap now Maybe, but they' re all LCD or Plasma in the UK. 480p on my friends CRT looks more natural and much better in my opinion, even if the resolution is visibly lower. Tough shit, if you want something that does HD decently (without digital processing, and scaling for 480p stuff) other than a CRT widescreen PC monitor, and that doesn' t give the same effect as a normal TV or arcade monitor due to the ultra fine dot pitch. In the states however, well you guys have got it great. Sony Super Fine Pitch anyone. All we have is that reject Samsung slim-fit.

....if you had no choice, and you HAD to choose between LCD and Plasma for your HD gaming, which would you prefer and why?...

The reason I don' t get myself a HDTV is because my current SDTV' s are fully funtional. I usually don' t get new stuff until my old things are broken, unless there' s huge difference in experience. To me, HD is really nice. But I don' t care much about it really. Not enough to go and get a new TV.

If you can afford an xbox360 or even a PS3, you can afford to spend a few hundred more and get a fucking hdtv. I laugh at you imbeciles playing on 20" SDTVs bitching about the quality of HDTVs. " Oh noes they have burn in issues!!" YOUR FUCKING SDTV HAS WORSE BURN-IN issues you FUCKING RETARD. God. You are in no position to argue over quality when you' re playing on a fucking SDTV so shut the fuck up, everything on your TV is worse, your burn in problems are worse, you image is worse, EVERYTHING. The shittiest HDTV in the world is still better than what you have - so shut the fuck up. You' re like a bum living in the street complaining about the cost of owning a house, oh boo hoo I have to cut the grass in the backyard, yet he lives in a fucking carboard box in the street. Like I said, get a job, stop being a fucking pussy, and go buy an HDTV. Oh, and all 3 consoles will support RF connections too, does that mean they' re meant to be played on fucking radio frequency? No - you are a fucking retard. Kill yourself.

640' 480 on a STV doesnt look as bad as it would on a PC. But then you would have to be conparing a 480p TV signal with 640' 480 as a monitor resolution.

Like I said, get a job, stop being a fucking pussy, and go buy an HDTV. And to you I say: Shut up, get a life, stop being a fucking dick and go play some games instead of bitching here.

Seriously, anybody complaining about this is a moron. If i buy a game for my PC and my hardware doesn' t meet the recommended system requirements then i have no right to bitch about it. While it' s unfortunate for SDTV users i have no sympathy as i doesn' t affect me or any of my friends whatsoever.

If MS can' t satisfy the SD market , 360 will simply die.I don' t care , I' m not getting an HD system to play it on my SD TV , but it is important for the mainstream market.

They might be ok in the US, as more people have HDTVs over there. In the UK, not even 50% have HDTVs yet, and a good DLP will still cost over £1500-2000. That' s a lot of money, even for me and I' m working! It' s just not worth it. Which is why the Wii will definitely do well over here this gen. Personally, I just bought myself a nice widescreen monitor for my next PC build and 360, for about £250, so I' m sorted! (and I' ll definitely be getting Dead Rising, heh. In fact I loved the demo. :D)

Gangsta, its only this game, and you know what? You dont need the text to get what' s going on,you can listen, and you have a arrow that shows where to run. However it is bad that capcom didnt check their text out to see that without a HDTV or widescreen tv,the letters are almost impossible to read.

When a friend of mine brought his 360 to my house, he finally got to try HD gaming, as he is currently gaming on SD with plans to soon buy HD. He put on the demo of lost planet and said on his TV he could barely read what it said on the screen. (at some point a message came up about what to do or something). Don' t know if any of you experienced this, or if his eyes just don' t cut it. Heck, maybe it' s a Capcom thing.

It' s any small writing. PGR3 had lots of text about each car on the selection screens, and in s-def you missed out on all that detail. But then I don' t suppose most people cared much. Also the numbers on the HUD speedometers were all much clearer in HD. A lot of games on the 360 just aren' t designed for SD. I quite like reading random stuff in games though. There' s often lots of nice touches that were just put in for fun.
