Why evolve a game that' s already perfect?

there is nothing in this game that shows next-gen except for graphics, and even those they are not very impressive.

But what' s next-gen for you? I mean, why the hell should they alter it so much that it becomes something else than Virtua Fighter when the game probably is as good as a fighter can get. Sure they could do the same things as with Fight Night Round 3 but then it wouldn' t be Virtua Fighter anymore. Some things just don' t need much improvement even though there is a new generation of hardware.

Hmm, you' re right! That could be improved.
You' re saying you didn' t go WOW when you saw the trailers but did DoA4 make you go WOW? Beause if it did and VF5 did not then I find it strange. I find it hard for fighting games to really give you that WOW feeling. The VF5 trailers made me go more like " oh yeeeeeah!" . You know that gut feeling when you just know it' s gonna be good .

Well I for one really liked Virtua Fighter 2. Since 32 bit died so has a lot of my interest in fighting games. VF4 was cool though, didn' t get into 3 much on the DC, but by no means am I good at the games, just competent enough to get by. The VF5 trailers look great, and I love the series for it' s depth, to see pro level people playing is nice.

However I understand what Abasoufiane is saying to a degree. Without drastically changing the game system I am sure they could have altered how characters interact. It was mentioned in another thread (I think " what do you expect from next gen" ) about character really blocking moves, having proper animations for it, rather than how it currently stands.
Anyone ever play the Naruto games on Gamecube? See the way that Shikamaru guards - he dodges rather than block. It doesn' t cause him to play different from the other characters (Except, obviously, guard damage) but it looks much better. Now I' m not asking for much dodging, but it would look much more like what you see in a film if they' d have better animation.

But for the graphics, they are very nice, and I don' t at this stage expect anything truely amazing just yet, so I guess the same can go for the animation...

f3hunter are u kidding me?
final fantasy has always and always changed a lot

Story
Combat system
graphics
sound (at least from generation to generation)

man i just read an article about this idea that people have about final fantasy, that it doesn' t evolve.. damn i forgot where i read that , 1up may be ... anyway your statement is totaly wrong.

uumai thanks i see you got my point,

as for graphics i didn' t say they' re bad , they are good , but i expect " much" better from ps3 and 360. i guess we will see visualy the same difference from Tekken tag tournement to tekken 5 in this generation as well.

Nomatter what console this game lands on, it will not look this good, the sega lindbergh hardware is far and away better then any home console this coming generation.

As for what console it lands on, may the highest bidder win, as contrary to what most playstation fanatics would have you believe, there are lots of xbox 360 fence sitters waiting to see what happens when all 3 consoles are in market.
If virtua fighter 5 is on the xbox 360, the xbox will gain market share.

As to say, the japanese don' t dis-like or even hate the xbox 360, they are just biding their time.

There are noticeable and subtle differences between Virtua Fighter 3 and Virtua Fighter 4 , which is why I still prefer Virtua Fighter 3.

AMEN!

Only a true pro would say that.

I think this next generation is way ' over expected' on the graphics-terms..

Now these machines are rendering in higher resolutions alot of the this ' extra' power wont be all on purely animations/FX build but also trying to render the bleedin demanding resolutions..

to me the biggest part of next gen gaming is bringing games in HD to the masses (althogh PC gamers, wont find this part anything special)

People expect toystory CGI grpahics (which is quite old now).. but that is just not gonna happen..

VF5 looks awesome! its the finer details which makes the game, VF4 already had the best animation anyway but VF5 improves on that alittle, details such as the way your character raises his/her leg at the same time as blocking a high/mid attack, or the way limbs ' bounce' of an opponents block in a weighty manner.. the realistic manner in how characters ' stumble' when off balance.. these little finer details that make the gameplay and make VF what it is..

Im sure if you ever get to play the game in person on your PS3/360 or PC (if they happen).. all will be apparent.

(ask or read the people ' who have played it in person' .. ive only read/heard ' its te best looking game soo far'

listen to this guy (from 1up) who played it and what he had to say about it: http://zdmedia.vo.llnwd.net/o1/Podcasts/040706.mp3

Actually Lindberg is nowhere near 360 or PS3 in terms of performance - the only advantage is
RAM - 1024MB - but there can be no LOADINGS in the Arcade so that' s the reason.

CPU is P4 3 GHz and GPU has 256MB Ram (with new vertex shader 3.0 and pixel shader 3.0)

In terms of cpu hardware and available memory, it kicks the stuffing out of both.

The pentium 4 is a much better CPU all around, better then both the xbox 360, and cell combines, OOO processors are always better then risc.
And the system has 512 megs of system, and 256 for video.

Don' t get me wrong, the cell and the xenos are no slouch, but a stock pentium 4, or even pre hyperthreading, has more beef to it.

Wait, hold on here...

Where it say' s: RAM: 184 pin DDR SDRAM PC3200(400 MHz) 512 MB × 2(Dual)
Does that mean it comes stock with 1024megs of ram?

In that case......
