The PC version of Battlefield 2 supports 64, and Huxley will support 200 (yes, in a the same match). Bungie going for 64 players is a possibility, just imagine the amount of money Microsoft will be throwing at the project.

yeah the reason why most 360 games can' t support much more then 8 players is because many of them (COD2 and GRAW) use the players to host a game. Meaning one players connection becomes the virtual server and the information has to pas through the hosts connection.

Some games like COD3 and Huxley will have their own dedicated servers like computer games. There really is no limit to how many you can have per server, its a limitation of how many the gameplay and console/PC hardware can support. Huxley servers will actually fit 5000 people in the cities and as Majik said up to 200 people in a battle field.

EVE for example is set up in one gigantic massive multiplayer MMO, everyone is in the same area. I think they surpassed 30 000 people playing all together in the same server, just to give you an idea how massive the game is. If these guys could do 30 000, 64 is a cake walk.

Thats the reason I prefer console FPS. On PC all you have to do is point at what you want to die, its less fun. With a console you have the tactile feel and its much more comfortable. We all have out preferences...

I prefer games like Rainbow where you fear the weaponry and it takes real precision to kill them, not just who has the screen pointed in the best direction as on consoles where turning is slow!
