It is a lot easier to just buy them right on your xbox 360 with your credit card. But if you don' t want to do that almost all stores that sell xbox 360 games have points for sale.

Hey Dio, I may just be assuming you meant something else, but you ARE aware that Crysis is NOT coming to the 360, correct?

Did I ever say it was for the 360?

Anyways, Gears of Wars is as we all know it one of the best looking games yet. However, as I think someone mentiones, they seem to be hiding much of what is new in terms of gameplay (think I think is great, as I don' t want to feel like I have already played the game, just by watching trailers). I' m wondering what we can expect, even more what you guys expect, as you are all seem highly anticipating of this game. What do you think? Will this game be a swan amongst the shooter games, or will it be halo 2, with triple wielding guns?

BTW: Did I mention ow pretty I think the graphics are??? They' re REAL prrreatty!

It will rock our world, especially since the MP seems awesome, have you seen soem of the battles?

From " gametrailers" ?

People are behind pillars and stairs leaning up and shooting at each other from distance,or sneaking up with a chainsaw :)

GoW really shines when people shot from distance, however i could almost assume it could also lead to camping, with people hiding until people runs in the open thinking its clear, just to have aguy pop up behind a corner shooting them down.

ofc thi didn' t happend in PDZ even with that cover system.

No, you didn' t, which is why I said excuse me if I was assuming.

I just jumped to the conclusion that you were talking 360 since this whole thread is focused on 360 games. Sorry for " steppin' on toes" here.

Epic Games VP dismisses claims that next-gen games need big budgets

Epic Games VP Mark Rein has slammed suggestions that huge budgets are required to create next-gen games, revealing that forthcoming Xbox 360 title Gears of War has cost " around $10 million" to produce.

Speaking at the London Games Summit, Rein said that it' s taken a team of 20 - 30 people around two years to complete work on GOW - arguing that despite claims by some industry figures, it' s still possible to create next-gen titles using medium sized teams and without gigantic budgets.

GOW, he continued, " wasn' t cheap but didn' t cost the crazy figures you hear other companies quoting of $20, $30 million" . Rein made similar comments in an interview with GI.biz last year, where he accused " big companies like EA" of " going around trying to scare people" .

When asked by an audience member how much GOW had cost to produce, Rein replied, " So far, around $10 million, maybe a little less.

" The publisher didn' t pay much more than that for it... And smart developers don' t

go over [deadline], let' s say that," he added.

However, as Rein clarified, Epic has not had to budget for the cost of a game engine - since GOW runs on the proprietary Unreal Engine 3. He said the company was also able to save money by outsourcing to new subsidiary Epic Games China.

According to Rein, Unreal Engine 3 has " now reached the first level of performance" . It will power Epic' s first PS3 title, Unreal Tournament 2007, which he described as " an even more intense game" than Gears of War.

So this punches a hole into the speculation that Next Gen games has to be extremely expensive!

Wow! $10million? That' s so cheap..

Note the ever apparent sarcasm, and yes you saw it coming..

Still, that' s pretty damn impressive.

Well they took their time with it.

Maybe it costs more when you have to pump out a game in 1 year or less.

Or it could be cheap if the single player mode is less than 15 hours, which it looks like it will be.

That' s pretty damn short too. Prey was over far too quickly, as was Halo 2 I thought. But when online multipllayer is so good, I won' t complain

Of course in Prey' s case it wasn' t, but the game mindf***ed me enough I didn' t mind, as I got it on trade for a trade in on GRAW.

Hang on - D' OH!!!!!!!!!!!!

That' s the thing. How long does everyone expect a first person shooter to last? The gameplay does not lend itself to variety, and as such, I think eight to ten hours is enough. Prey was perfect (length-wise) as far as I' m concerned. I mean, I actually finished it (which doesn' t happen with a lot of games these days).

I agree 8-10 hours is enough for a FPS, unless they find miracles in keeping it interesting. I dont think FPS games has ever taken longer to get through, i dont recall a shorterning in that thats noticeble.

I tend to finish everygame i start out with, last game i didnt finish was COD2 because im so bored with WWII games, telling stories is a huge factor for me when playing a game, the WWII story iv heard plenty of times.

Being a like game and all, GoW might or might not be best suited with around 12.5 hours of gameplay unless they keep things interesting through and through. RE4 was perfect with its around 20 hours of play, but it hard a great storyline.

Gears should have some longevity due to the online co-op mode. Same with Rainbow Six where you have play 4 player co-op through the entire campaighn.

Cliffy on co-op...

When I was first pitching this game (to Microsoft, to Epic leads, to team members, etc...) one of the images I couldn' t get out of my head was the classic " Lethal Weapon" buddy cop moment of Gibson and Glover outside of a room of hooligans and looking at each other and saying...

" Okay, count to three and we go."
" Wait. Right on three or three and THEN go?"

For me, taking cover on opposite sides of a door while you watch your best friend on the adjacent side doing the same, trading turns unloading on foes always seemed like a great moment to shoot for.

The first time we sat down with two 360' s and sent a game invite over Live, accepted, and watched Player 2 take over AI Dominic it was magical. I felt like I was watching Agent Smith taking over an NPC in the Matrix. One second Dom is AI driven, fighting alongside me, the next he' s taken over by my friend and we' re barreling through this cinematic shooter together.

Good stuff.

However, one side effect of all of this cropped up. As fate would have it we didn' t always include two of everything in the game. One player can sometimes hog a turret, or a torquebow, or the Hammer of Dawn.

Sure, there are plenty of areas where there are numerous guns and resources for both but we found that this interesting dynamic was coming out of co-op.

Competition.

Players would start to figure out that we weren' t always that generous with extra goodies in co-op and started competing for goodies. Racing to a turret. Stealing grenades. Swiping the sniper rifle.

And what ultimately happened?

Two players taking different complementary strategies throughout battle (one sniping, the other shotgunning) while punching each other repeatedly in the arm while playing.

" Bastard! That was my grenade!"

In some ways, Co-op IS about helping out your buddy. Other times, it' s about messing with his head. :)
