March 29th, same day as the GTA IV trailer, MS should announce the " new" 360 and the discontinuation of the core model along with a premium model price reduction.

About time. Too bad they didn' t realise nobody wanted core a year earlier.

GTA is a big thing though. It' ll be interesting to see how a simultaneous release will affect overall sales. The games sold in insane quantities on PS2.

Mercenaries 2 will be great. I' m really getting into the sandbox thing now. As long as is has great physics, i' m there.

GTA sales are gonna depend on console of choice of course, and assuming the current trend sticks for another half-a-year or so, or until PS3 gets some truly awesome exclusives, I can' t see Sony still having the market majority with GTA. It' ll sell some consoles sure, but not in droves. Not when it can be played on a 360 for $200 cheaper.

Sandbox is really interesting me as well. You have crackdown yet? It' s going to be a day or so before I rewire the cat-5 cable across the house (I clambered into the attic, wired it across the house, and my cable spontaneously dies after a month of usage.) but when that' s done we should game sometime.

You could say that Saints Row accomplished that to the untrained eye. I don' t really care about graphics in this game though. As long as it has everything that made me love GTAIII makes it in GTA IV. Content, AI, voice acting and story are what Rockstar needs to focus on with this one.

I just hope the framerate is as solid as Crackdown. The GTA games and Saints Row have dodgy framerates.

No, but I' m guessing they' re aiming for a solid 30 fps. Which works for me, as long as they don' t have Vsync issues.

Just as Nitro pointed out to me in another thread, you can compare 16 month old 360 games with new PS3 games that are out now, because Sony was a year late and had plenty of time to make sure all of the launch titles were up to our expectations.

Well no, not 16 month old games because then we' d be talking PGR3 and PDZ.

You can compare game like Gears to games like Resistance because they were released around the same time and have had similar development times. PS3 was delayed because of a diode shortage and bad processor yields but the games were in development before the hardware was even finalized.

You can compare the quality, but not the quantity. I don' t care what anyone says, but it makes a big difference to developers if a system is already being sold compared to one that isn' t due out for some period of time.
