RE: Forza 2 demo up!

Can you guys STFU about silver and gold member differences and actually talk about the god damn game? I come in here looking for impressions on Forza 2 and all I see is a bunch of faggots bickering about how they can' t download it because they are at work, and arguing about what a silver member can and cannot do. Oh sorry sir, that was partly me. If I had known my behaviour would upset your excellency I would' ve immediately ceased with the thoughtless questions. I am ashamed of my lack of knowledge in your presense and I shall make every possible effort to atone for my dreadful sins. May your light guide me through the darkness, and let it shine upon this forum as only yours can.

the lack of real damage is disappointing for a game coming out a year-&-a-half after the console' s launch. The damage for the demo is cosmetic only, but can be activated in the final game to varying degrees, such that the car can be pretty much rendered useless with a huge crash. The demo is actually their idea of " arcade" settings! But it would have been much better if they' d included customization in the demo, because you can do a lot to adjust your car to your driving style.

I' ve found the C class cars handle a bit wierd when it comes to sliding. The R2 class cars are much grippier and therefore feel better at the edge of traction. I' d give them a go Eddie. I think what most people dont like about the game is that sense of " what dyu mean I cant go fast in a racing game??" , and I dont think the way the car skids in games like GT and Forza is actually that realistic. Just hacked together to seem real. Some games like netKar Pro and Richard Burns Rally, have very complicated physics to simulate where a car skids, how it skids, where the wheels spin etc, and you can go round a corner very fast without skidding as long as the car is setup right for that corner. In GT and FM2 it seems if you' re over a certain speed, you' ll just 4 wheel drift off the track. It' s not realistic, its not fun, and it gives sims a bad name!

I completely hate the penalty system. The car models look great but everything else looks like something from a wii game. I' ll wait for PGR4.

Agent, you have been talking some absolute bollocks lately. First, the dumb ' Nintendo Games not being Innovative' comment and now this: quote: The car models look great but everything else looks like something from a Wii game. WTF? As far as Track-style Backgrounds go, FM2 has some of the best and clearly the best Draw distance

The car models look great but everything else looks like something from a Wii game. Play PGR3 in the incar view and you' ll know what I was saying. Play Forza 2 in SD and with the exception of the car models as I said it would look closer to what wii is capable of than the quality shown with PGR4 or even PGR3.

So, increase the contrast in Forza one, and you have Forza 2?

New favourite car - the Ford GT! I completely hate the penalty system. I think the penalty system is imperative to the multiplayer. PGR3 was a complete mess online, the one who won was the lucky one who avoided the chaos at the first corner. This will either put off the wreckers from playing altogether, or coerce you into racing fairly and skillfully. Only problems are: - How will it know who hit who when surely all it detects is contact? - The types who shout in high squeaky voices over the headsets will probably just play to wreck anyway. -And there should be an option to turn it off in single player, or have an unrestricted free ride mode or something just for fun.

I can understand to some extent the penalty system for collisions, but to penalize you for going off track is retarded. As if it' s not bad enough to be slowed down to a crawl you get time shoved up your ass too. Ridiculous. As for the kidos playing bumper cars. As far as I' m conserned that' s just part of the game, if you can' t handle them then you can' t handle the game. Besides if that' s such a problem you can always turn off hit detection so that cars simply pass through eachother (PGR3 had this option for matches). Because like you said, the people only interested in bumper cars don' t give a rats ass about how they finish, penalities mean nothing to them.

I know what you mean, they should' ve limited the time penalties only to times when you actually gain an advantage by going off the track. Most of the time you just get slowed down. In PGR, yea its an arcade game so collisions are meant to be part of the fun, but Forza' s trying to be a little serious at least, so wreckers would just spoil things. Besides turning off collisions just isnt cool heh. I always thought it' d be cool to be able to rate racers on Gotham/Forza TV as a viewer. You know then people could have a notoriety and skill rating, and you' d try to race well and put on a good show for the viewers. Imagine being the no1 racer as rated by the community themselves. Would really fit with the whole customisation of online persona/car thing they' re going for.

Penalties can be turned off (at least I think they were able to be in the first one) and the other AI cars get penalized as well if you look at the track times afterwords. I think I' m gonna go look for Forza one since its only like $6 now.

The FMS2 demo was alright, from the class of stock to tune' up cars was pretty much good from the demo of course. The visual of detail is impressive, but the color' s of the car' s themself is to rich of dark and cartooney, compare to GT:HD(Gran-Turismo HD) wich looks light and realistic, is a 2nd alternative, above it all I can' t wait to get a copy once it' s release.

The Second Opinion? Not eurgh anymore, just not... memorable. From a technical standpoint it' s nice, but I thought it looked a little bland, like your run-of-the-mill C+ game with marginally better gameplay. I' m going by the demo' s performance, and not by what the final product should have, so yes, I' m still whining about the lack of damage. As for getting your points docked? Again, go out & do that in real life. Play bumpercars on the interstate at 80mph or drive off the road in a heroin induced stupor, & get points knocked off of your real license, I have no desire to be penalised for taking risks in a racer. I think I' m gonna go look for Forza one since its only like $6 now. Is it BC with the 360?

I love you too Evil Man *gives Evil Man a hug* Judging by the replays I' ve noticed that the Nurnburg track in Forza 2 looks much, much better than the same track in PGR3. But overall the graphics in PGR3 appears to be better. Why is this? Is it easier to make city landscapes?

Different engine, different capabilities, different focus. Those are the main reasons why. Obviously they sacrificed some image quality for a framerate increase. Personally I find little to no difference when playing a 60FPS game or a 30FPS game. My eyes aren' t particularly sensitive to it, which is fine by me. So this being a " 60FPS" game is not a big selling point for me. The car models in PGR3 are definitely superior to those in FM2. FM2' s cars were all done in house (I think, not 100% sure). Despite what others think, Bizarre didn' t do their car modelling in house. They outsourced it to Virtual Mechanix, an Australian based company that specializes in modelling cars, so they know their shit. They also did the car models for PGR2, and are currently in the process of modelling cars for PGR4. You can definitely see how a specialist company can make a big difference in quality, and I can' t wait to see what PGR4 will have in store. Overall, the engine powering PGR3/4 is much more impressive. Much better lighting and the environments are much more immersive. Track racing is a little dull in my opinion. I also find the sense of speed in FM2 to be a little lacking so far - even in the supercar class. I' m still undecided on Forza. I think it may be too much of a sim for my likings, although I' m really interested in the customization options. I' ll probably pick it up through an impulse buy eventually.

With the cockpit mode and the close up photo mode in the garage it doesn' t surprise me that they wanted the cars in PGR3 to be as good as possible. But even though some pros made the car models they' re still too shiny. And they don' t have the customisation options Forza 2 has. I like the engine sounds in Forza 2 more. But most importantly, the gameplay is much better in Forza 2, at least if you' re playing with a wheel. So to me, Forza 2 seems to be the better game. It lacks in graphics but to me gameplay always matters the most. Can' t wait till I get to play the full game. I went back to playing PGR3 after the Forza 2 demo and I couldn' t stand it. The force feedback didn' t feel right at all and the precision I had gotten used to in Forza 2 wasn' t there. I think the 60FPS in Forza 2 gave me a better sense of speed so I could estimate the speed much better. In PGR3 I see no difference if I' m going in 30 km/h or 300 km/h.

I spent some time last night trying to get the hang of the R2 class. Not much luck so far! In order to keep the car on the road, I had to drive so conservatively that I was quickly left far behind. I also am trying to get better at using manual transmission cars. In videogames I' ve always just gone with the automatic transmission, even though I drive a stick in real life. Anyhow, I tried out the manual tranny on some of the C class cars and did decently. I' m sure I can get much better results if I keep practicing. As far as the " sense of speed," I think with PGR they are applying some kind of lens distortion effect, increasing the angle of the lens, when as you increase in speed which is really exaggerating the visual effect. In both games I always use the hood cam or bumper cam, which is way more intense than any of the chase cams.
