Ridge Racer 7 causes PS3 to crash... - Sep 23, 2006 18:34

Looks like Namco' s Ridger Racer 7 is too taxing on the PlayStation 3. We caught this poor floor rep tending to the overheated, bugged out PS3 that shit the bed during the first day of TGS. Yeah, we know this sort of thing happens all the time when you' ve got unfinished code running on unproven hardware, but we also know that even though you' ve got a Bravia television and a high end PlayStation 3, your cooling solution is wicked ghetto.

Plus, 1080p and 60 frames per second don' t mean squat when you' re rendering a blank screen.

We' ve seen a couple of kiosks and machines go down, but can somewhat safely assume this is just software related and not an issue with the PlayStation 3 machines themselves.

We' ll have more gratuitous fatal system errors soon, coupled with frustrated game producers and booth reps. We promise

Unfinished code? Ha, Namco announced the other day that the game was finished!

Thanks!
Haha, I love the picture. A black screen and the " Full HD 1080p 60 fps in-game" sign. And the little fan the guy is trying to use
Anyway, I don' t like the language they use at Kotaku. It doesn' t sound proffessional.

RR7 wasent the only game that has a crash, Sonic also had the same fate back in E306 and it was an over-heat issue as well, man Sony got to do something about this because it' s only a matter of time once november 17 hits the day.

It' s pretty stupid to be happy about it - if Retail version will crash , then OK go as fanboy as you like , but it wasn' t released yet right?

Theyre just scared that PS3 is going to rape 360 and like to nit pick at every little thing.

It' s fucking hilarious that people that support the console with the worst hardware failure ratios in history (xbox360) are making fun of this.

I don' t mind if they want to attack Sony for the same reasons people attack 360 , but talking about unreleased games (being finished doesn' t mean it' s a retail version) is hopeless.

Wait a little longer guys - PS3 will have it' s share of problems - patience

Evil man its funny how SONY never officially has announced how many ps2 has broke.

Why do you think ps2 sells 100.000' s ex in japan each month?.

Atleast MS dares to give out information.

And their support fix it.

That' s hardly the point. The PS3 evidently get' s very hot. Didn' t ou see the guy with the fan trying to keep it cool?!

So much for their magical cooling methods. There display pods are TGS have their own coolng too so either the pods colling system stopped working and the PS3 just got hot, or the PS3 got REALLY hot and the display pods cooling method wasn' t enough.

If this is still going on after launch i' m going to tear the people who constantly slated 360 for the same problems and new asshole.

Wow GaNgStA what a square answer, I' m very concern about a console that I will purchase, since there are a few crashes from over-heating from a demonstration stand on E306, I don' t know if $599 will keep the console running good, I bought a 360(20GB sku ver) like 3-4 month ago and since then no kind of problem came around. I notice that the PS3 isn' t release yet, but I' m pretty sure that a few will be defected from over-heating.

btw I' m no fanboy to neither console I really like them all it' s the game that count' s not how powerful or weak the console is, I really hate the word fanboy.

Me too, it sounds like a word you' d expect to hear in a playground.

In regards to the apparent PS3 problem, I hope this is sorted for the launch.

XBox360 had a problem with some asian production workers who left the heat sink on.
Atleast every 360 they opend that was overheated had it on.

360 don' t get overheated if you put it on a right place.
