Yeah those are the ones returned at the store, but who bothers returning it to the retailer? Most people are shipping them back to MS. The real number is 80-100%, we all know this.

if you had a recente look at the recent pole in gamespot, you' ll find out that it' s around 30 to 40% failure rate !!! this is ridiculous , a fiasco in this industry, what a shame.

Microsoft is paying the price already for its negligence and the worst is coming to them.if i knew that my 360 will fail , i will not buy it and a lot of people won' t, they will choose the ps3 or wii or keep their money. you will see the consequences for this soon as lately, this red light thing is getting more heat than ever and MS is keeping silence.

Aba come on,you do realise there is like 60-70% of people who is pro sony or nintendo at gamespot too?

U dont think they vote at the polls?

Ofc they take my 360 broke 2 times+
or something like that on that poll, even though they doesnt even have a 360.

Yeah, mine was an ' 05 model, so it held out for over a year & a half.

It' s kinda' sad when you' re bragging about your $400 high-end gaming machine surviving for a year & a half.

I remember a few years ago when I left the window open in my room [in an already cold house], the next day the computer would not turn on as it was too cold..

well thats what i figured it was.

While it may be that 35-40% of 360s fail, it is probably not 35-40% of 360 owners who have a failure, as it does seem that most people who have had one go on them, have gone through multiple failures.

Eddie' s Law of PC Harmonics applies here.

Units from release date to mid 06' = 100% failure rate

Units from mid 06' to now = 40% to 60% failure rate

There shouldn' t be a difference. The components are exactly the same. The only thing they' ve changed is the DVD drive, and that doesn' t affect heating at all.

Realistically not a chance. My 360, and two of my friends consoles are still working fine since launch. Though I do know of serveral people that have had now three or four since.

30% faliure rate seems about right though. From what I experienced when I worked in retail we were getting three to 7 console back a week. And the problem actually grew worse just in September 06, with machines sold from about April or may.

I' m told it' s still just as bad at the moment.
