I' ll just pick one overall GOTY: Mass Effect

Note that I haven' t played:
360: Orange box, Portal, Halo 3, COD4
PS3: Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank, Heavenly Sword, Resistance
Wii: Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3
PSP: FF tactics war of the lions
DS: Legend Of Zelda Phantom Hourglass.

But I' m pretty sure none of those games will be as great to me as Mass Effect.
Possibly Mario Galaxy or Metroid Prime 3 but the chances are small.

The only game that I haven' t played that could possibly have a chance at GOTY is Uncharted.

Probably Mass Effect but I' ve hardly played the game yet. Too busy with COD4 and Geometry Wars.

I have to agree with Zoy when he said Portal deserves GOTY just for being innovative. Even if it' s not a full game, rather an introduction to the new gameplay. It' s amazing that it' s actually a student project.

Uncharted. I think I' ve said this before. Its just great fun and overall impressive in every aspect.

Runner up is Bioshock, but iv played so many fps titles so thats a downer for it.

Uncharted is likely to be up there, but i havent played anything but the demo yet!

There have been quite a few contenders though:
CoD4, Assasains Creed, Halo3, Crysis and for pure entertainment Star Wars lego TCS.

Mass Effect is my game of the year too, although CoD4 runs it close with its fantastic multiplayer. Disappointment of the year was Halo 3, its just a bit meh.

I not really good at FPS, because generally I find them uninteresting, but I got this for xmas and finished b4 new years. That' s just sad. From a single player perspective it really felt like half a game.
Weird. I liked the first Halo so much I actually played it through again on legendary. This one, I just finished on normal and went to Youtube afterwards.

Obviously, the focus on Halo3 was online play. I wish they hadn' t used that as an excuse to release a half-assed single player experience.

Either Bioshock or Mario Galaxy.

Add another one, we can have 11 in the top 10. Everyone will ask why does Kikizo have a top 11 and we' ll say " ...because Adam said so" .

I realize there is a backlash against all the hype surrounding Halo 3, but I have to go with it as my game of the year. The gameplay is almost perfectly balanced with a number of new vehicles and weapons added. The Forge, 4-player online campaign co-op and its internal metagame option, and saved films features are all implemented extremely well. It delivered, and exceeded in some cases, on the expectations surrounding it.

Im loving PGR4 at the moment.

But GOTY=STALKER. Came out early 2007, but still more interesting than most FPSs that came after. Runner up - Portal or COD4.

Hmm.. Looking at the things i particularly look for in a ' special' game, only one hits the nail:

Refines It' s Genre

Feels Instantly Fresh and intuitive and fun to play

Makes great use of its hardware

Always runs super smooth

faultlessly Polished

Has great variation of gameplay.

Great Use of Sound and Attention to detail

Sublime Original Soundtrack

hard to decide on GOTY because I haven' t played enough of COD4 or UT3 yet. Halo 3 is up there too.
Best engine easily goes to UE3. Cysis has more detailed graphics, but when you set the detail to match UT3 at its highest UT3 gets twice the framerate with the same detail.
