Okay, (most) of those screenshots in the background simply CAN' T be the DS version. The article mentions the PSP. I' m guessing most of the shots are from there =/ Face it, the DS could never have a really good 3D action title...at least one that doesn' t look it' s from the early Playstation era.

I' m not saying there WON' T be a DS version; simply that naturally, the too-good screenshots just have to be from the PSP version. Especially since PSP is clearly mentioned in the article. For the DS version though, instead of pure action...they might go for the card-battle-system route ala Metal Gear Ac!d I would love it if it would look/play kinda like the original Soul Reaver, or something similar though...

He mentions that the ability to use the stylus is what made him decide to develop the game for DS and not PSP. That' s the only time PSP is mentioned. The screens are DS, and they' re an odd shaped because the game will be played like Brain Training; holding it like a book. The game will be isometric 2.5D and will play using just the stylus, and the only buttons used are to block. You guide Hayabusa with the stylus, launch enemies into the air y slashing up/down, tap twice to jump, tap enemies to throw shurikens at them, and perform Ninpo actions by drawing the shapes onscreen. The right screen (bottom) will act as the main display and the left (top) used for maps and item/weapon/Ninpo selection. The game starts with you controlling someone else; a female Ninja. You play as her through the tutorial sequence and then again later in the game. Itagaki said that the game will be 100% pure action. Should be awesome.

DS isn' t that underpowered. It' s only limitation compared to Playstation, Saturn and N64 is possible texture size, although Rare managed to do amazing things with multi-layer textures on N64 so workarounds are possible. Many developers, for one reason or another, fail to take full advantage of Nintendo hardware. Team Ninja are one of the most capable Japanese studios, second only to Capcom in my book and will be able to do wonders with DS. Plus, DS only suffers reduced performance if both screens are outputting 3D. This will only use one and even then it' s not fully 3D, but instead an isometric 2.5D. I do kinda wish he' d gone down the sidescroller route in a Castlevania-esque fashion though. But i' m sure they' ll pull this off. Itagaki is a genius.

Plus, DS only suffers reduced performance if both screens are outputting 3D. Makes me think that (more) developers should be willing to make purely single-screen (or at least, majorly single-screen) games, somewhat like FF3' s battle sequences; so they can maximize the DS' graphic processing power. Anyway, according to a 1up article, most, if not all, actions are done with the stylus. I' m guessing all that slashing, kinda reminds me of Phantom Hourglass. Anyone wonder how jumping is going to be enabled? I' m assuming it' ll be a mostly top-down game...

The backgrounds (levels) appear to be pre-rendered, but i' m not certain. If they are actually 3D then this will probably be the best looking DS game yet. This game will be awesome!

...dun? ...looks like NG:DS is 100% legit... [image]http://media.1up.com/media?id=3240424&type=lg[/image] [image]http://media.1up.com/media?id=3240423&type=lg[/image] [image]http://media.1up.com/media?id=3240422&type=lg[/image] [image]http://media.1up.com/media?id=3240421&type=lg[/image] ...i' m not happy at all because A) you know what i think about handhelds, and B) this could mean no Code Cronus and either another NG game, or another DOA ...i love both franchises, but Team Ninja really need to branch out... ...NG was a great start, but they could really blow the roof off with a certain epic free-roaming adventure/rpg title...

I don' t believe for one minute that Team Ninja have their B tea working on Sigma and their A team only working on this. Then again, DS titles don' t have long development spans so we should see something in July. But after Sigma and Dragon Sword, it obviously won' t be Ninja Gaiden 2, ...making you right, again.
