Apparently the price cut+5 HD-DVD made HD-DVD sales go nuts.

It was reported elsewhere as well. That was just a meager $20 off the origional price ( you could' ve gotten the 5 DVDs prior to the drop as well I think). So lloking at that do you think maybe the small price cut on the 360 might have a similar spike?

It sucks you guys have to pay for the HD-dvd drive. Now if ms said hey for now one here is a free hd-dvd player for every 360 now that would be cool. And would put sony in the ground

Like I always said, Blu ray is starting to crush HdDvd, altough it will take a while for it to be dominant.

It' d be a great deal if I supported HD-DVD.

You get 5 free bluray movies with bluray players too, including PS3.

I' d rather buy a $500 PS3 with 5 bluray movies, than a $400 X360+ $180 Add on for a format that doesn' t look like its going to make it.

Plus at least the PS3 has HDMI. I' m not buying an Xbox 360 1337 just for HDMI. I heard the HD-DVD deal only lets you choose 5 free from a selection of 10 total or something like that.

Actually this is quite good news for the HD DVD camp. They were ALWAYS beating BluRay when it came to standalone players, the big difference only came from PS3 sales in the format war. Now if the HD DVD addon is starting to catch up this means, that actually the HD DVD camp is close to getting a second chance.

I like it, I dont want to be dependant on a Sony format. Someday BluRay Discs will start blowing up just like their rechargeable batterys do (Pure trolling). And what do I need HDMI for, when BluRay is still using mostly an inferior codec?


As for the movie choice, Joe, you are mixing something. Both formats let you choose your movies out of a list of 20 or so really bad movies (like, for example, Resident Evil: Apocalypse or Underworld: Evolution).

It will be interesting to see if this will make Blockbuster change their policy. I heard a while back they chose BluRay.

In the long run though, I don' t think HDDVD has a chance against Sony. PS3 is selling slow, but it' s definitely still selling. That means Sony has a super reliable, albeit slow source of new BluRay customers. That' s going to be pretty hard to counter.

The ps3 is still costing 900$ here in EU.

And the 500 dollar price is just temporary,while 360 atleast will cost 350$ from now on.

Walmart already chose HD-DVD
