RE: Rainbow Six Demo now Live - Oct 25, 2006 05:51

ORIGINAL: f3hunter

I d/l the demo... It' s a bit stiff...

....
...

I' ll play it again..

Thats sounds really dodgy

lol.

What I meant was, the controls feel a bit stiff, and it isn' t one of the nicest flowing
games out there, admittedly I thought the game was amazing up until you started
playing. I was shooting, but never once saw any of the terrorists, the only bit
I like about it so far is the frag grenade, just throwing it to see how your team
reacts to it, and then there is the loss of sound!

Other than that, I haven' t been able to progress more than 2 minutes into the
demo.

I think GRAW was a lot easier to access than RB6..

It' s pretty crap that some regions get the demo and some don' t. I thought MS were all about worlwide launches. How hard is it to do that with an online demo??

The demo is pretty hard in places, unless you take full advantage of your team to flank enemies and breach new areas from different directions. I like that.

It seems the enemy AI goes ape shit when you just try to run at them, but stand around like lemons if you chuck a flashbang or smoke grenade into a room. It' s cool in a way.

The fps drops do seem more cpu than gpu limited though. A lot of very pretty areas are quite smooth, whereas the drops in fps are usually when you' re breaching a new room and the enemy and friendly AI has to figure out what to do at the same time as smoke physics calculations etc.

Stuff like that I' m sure will be solved in future generations of games, cos I can' t imagine 9.6GHz not being able to cope with this kinda thing.

The worst frame rate I' ve ever experiened though was trying to play a game called ' Fade to Black' on my, even then dated, 486 PC. I had to hold the up button a whole minute for one frame to load! I only got 3 frames into the game.. [:' (]

Just played the demo now! And its made me giddy like a school girl, fuck this is some goooood shit!

It does play differently than the other Rainbox Six games, so its broken a bit with the Legacy, if poeple got gimped in MP, its definetly my game of Live choice!

Like I said earlier,

-Set up a German Hotmail account
-Enter a valid phone and address, this one should work.

Postal Code: 54292
City: Trier
Phone Number: 065112345

-Set up a new Live Silver Id on your 360 using your new German Hotmail account
-Log on download the demo and enjoy.
Everyone can download the demo.

I don' t even bother with 3D games on my PC, it' s not sexy enough for those.

Absolutely incredible game in every area! Didn' tnotice much slowdown though... so I guess either I wasn' t paying attention or I' ve got a super 360 or something. Aaaaaaanyway, probably one of the prettiest games I have ever seen, your squadmates' and the enemy' s AIs are very good, and as a whole it feels much more polished (a demo for god' s sake!) than the final copy of SC:DA for example. However, my two favorite aspects of the game are the extreme realism of the game (have to play it on realistic) and the myriad options you can give to your teammates. I love the stop and pop gameplay elements (which just add to the realism quite frankly, since in reality you would not stay out of cover while engaging the enemy) and that fact that the game did not rely solely on them like, let' s say, Gears of War, which is why I also believe that this game will be much more enjoyable. But that is just my humble opinion.

zzz, how many more times are we to play another " ride into town with army buddies to destroy the bad guys" ..

This is all getting old in the tooth. Im not even getting this for the pc. People are still geting excited over it, so i supposed there is still a market. Can fully understand why Japanese are not warming up to 360 tho.

The same games are coming to the PS3 only on that platform they are poorly ported, by the time the PS3 has any good games of another style, Blue Dragon will be released.

Please be constructive in your critisism instead of just saying bullshit! We know you cant wait for your precious playstation so please dont pinpoint it for us all the time, we got better things to do with our time than read the meaningless stuff you write.

Sorry I didnt like the demo, i think this type of game has been over done and offers nothing new, just like most 360 games. (The most original games have infact been on other plattforms.) Im sorry that i found it boring

Maybe you dont like the demo, but its because youv chosen not to like it, or because you havent played R6 before.

the Graphics are great, the controls are great, it was widely improved on other titles of the same nature, if its not your thing, say its not your thing, the demo is great!

I completely agree that the idea has been overdone F3hunter, but

Is a Sony Fanboy comment if I have ever seen one.

I actually brought a 360 at launch and ive never even owned a SONY console yet..
anyone who dont like anything 360 is instanltly label by MS fanboys as a SONY fanboy!

Great philosophy!!!

And after standing in the cold in line to by a 360 i sure do feel like one.

hehe.

Anyway.

I hate the Demo, too jerky and too boring IMO.

We don' t want to turn this thread into a flame war, I have owned a PS1 and 2 I hate Sony, but your comment previously did " reek" of Fanboy. Never do you make generalizations about a system, NEVER. I am not a Microsoft Fanboy, as I said before I am more of a Sega Fanboy...but that doesn' t interfere with much (unless you tell me one of their games suck then I might get defensive (of course they have gotten worse lately :( ).

The demo is actually more enjoyable then I expected it is obvious they are revising the series a little, more realistic locales for one. I am really happy with the outcome. The framerate did drop a bit though :/

How the hell does that reek fanboy??? (and why have you missed the word ' Sony' out of it?)

Thats a true statement.. 360 HAS lacked original games and game genres., especially compared with other plattforms.

as I said before I am more of a Sega Fanboy

Im a true SEGA fan..

And If you did own a Dreamcast back in the day, and if you did appreciate its ' Fresh' fantastic and ' original' games, You of all people should know where im coming from..

Well to be honest where you are coming from smells a bit like donkey poo!

You can say what ever you want about the 360, but as long as what you are saying is wrong, your an A** to me.

Dreamcast was just as revolutionary as any new console, nostalgia blinds the truth from people. nearly every genre has been explored, and its up to the devs to improve upon the titles, and R6 team has done that, to a great extent.

If you found it boring, you never liked R6, and you never liked " realistic" shooters, so your comments arent really viable at all!

Yeah, I sorta see where you' re coming from man, I' m really rooting for the 360, but so far nothing has really done it for me, I think the thing is sega had this vibe about them, their games never took themselves so seriously. Wish microsoft would secure some of the ex-sega teams and bring them inhouse, maybe the old team andromeada & smile bit. Shit I want to see a new gun valkyrie & panzeer saga. imagine saga' s art direction with the xbox' s power, fuck dude, that' s the beginning of a wet dream for me. I' m sticking with it though, I know once the japanese devs(with the exception of capcom, & I' m actually dying to get my hands on project sylpheed, I really miss space shooters). The thing is that it' s too risky to chance original games now. The stakes are too high now, I think it' s partly what killed sega(I' m looking at you shenmue). I mean I couldn' t believe shenmue & jetset radio didn' t sell, that' s when I realized that I was fucked, because it wouldn' t be worth it to attemp it again, guess not enough true gamers buying games.

This game, and games like GRAW/2 will sell well in Japan. On Playstation 3.

It' s not the games that the Japanese don' t like, they simply don' t take to foreign products very well. From all accounts, GRAW made quite an impression on Japanese gamers, and on developers like Kojima. When the game/s are released on PS3 they will sell in healthy numbers, that you can be sure of.

360 has been repeatedly praidsed for it' s lack of dependancy on sequels. Microsoft have been actively looking for new IP' s and genres for their console so to say that it lacks original games is dumb. It may not have games like Donkey Konga but it doesn have Vision Camera gamess coming out now and is the first console to use " proper" facemapping in it' s games. You don' t like it? Sell the machine and buy Wii, but stop crying like a baby.

Insulting someone over their comments about a Games console How sad man.

After Reading the first sentance:

Yeah, we all know how much the japanese love their FPS' s. lol.

Vision Camera gamess coming out now and is the first console to use " proper" facemapping in it' s games. You don' t like it?

Oh god!! thats the best feature ever!!! will add soo much to the gameplay of sequels it' ll most likely appear on (COD4. Graw 3, R6 2007, Fifa 2008, Fortza 2, Halo 3, and the next DOA: fake fighing game.).. Excellent!!!!!!
