Software should sell proportionately to hardware. Wii software isn' t. The reason is ' causal gamers' who don' t buy anywhere near as much software as hardcore and mainsteam gamers.

It' s too early to know if Wii has legs. Personally, and i' m pretty good at this, ...i can' t see it. Nintendo have managed an amazing launch to be sure, but 3rd party software is key to a successful life-span and they have nothing before late Q3 that will make a mark.

Wii software is admittedly very average bordering on crap, save for a few stellar titles, Zelda TP which is also on the GC as well, and Wiisports being bundled.
What did you expect though? Did anyone think that Third party developers would have been flocking to Nintendo' s newest console after coming last in the previous generation? No way! The GC was a failure so developers, looking at past performances, probably would not have seen any future in any Nintendo console or in Nintendo as a company. Thats why the current level of software isn' t spectacular. Now that the Wii has proven its popularity Developers have been caught on the backfoot so i wouldn' t expect decent Third Party software until Christmas 07 or later.

Why can' t you see Wii being successful? Is it because it lacks HD? Thats not stopping the ps2 after so long (and possibly for a few more years), and we all know the Wii is more capable then the ps2.

If Wii can sell this much with average crap, how well will it do when real quality software hits? What about when they eventually release Online (so it might be average, at least its free and presumably it works)? I can still see a bright future for the Wii.

COD2 single player trumps COD3 by far. However If you only care about online one could make a case for either. COD3 supports more players with bigger maps vehicles and classes. COD3 is like COD2 with a Battlefield flavor.

I already cleared the single player in COD2. Its the fact that COD3 supports more players and has bigger maps is what appeals to me over COD2. Battlefield 2 on the PC has to be one of the best multiplayer games I have ever played(I still play it regularly), it can support up to 64 players online which is fantastic. The more players the better as far as I am concerned which is why COD3 appeals to me more.

Of course I will be getting Gears and GRAW2. I might pick up Vegas as well. Nobody here seems to be big fans of Vegas. I think it has an excellant multiplayer.

One of the biggest problems with Wii as far as games go is the fact that it' s peerless. PC PS3 and 360 will be bouncing off ports from eachother, much like GameCube, Xbox and PS2. With Wii, you can' t simply port games from the other three so easilly. Even if they put the extra effort to re-make game assets and strip down gaming features like physics and animations, the result still would suck. That' s why I think many Publishers won' t even bother. Games on Wii almost have to be disigned for the Wii, to be worth anything.

is ir just me, or does the Gamecube have better looking launch titles than the Wii?. Luigi' s mansion sures looks better than some of these pics beening posted.

Yeah, you can get a slim line PS2 for £50 at Asda. Most places I' ve seen around Leeds are still advertising PS3 pre-orders a week before launch. With 360 and Wii if you went to pre order a week before launch you' d have been laughed out of the shop.

I went to a store a couple of weeks after the Wii was launched and played it a little. I then turned to the store manager and asked if they had any for sale. He laughed for a while and after some time he said " no" , smiling at me like I was a world-class comedian.

Vegas is awesome. I' m not a huge fan of the multiplayer though. GRAW2 is far far better online.

Here' s another way to look at the console sales figures from January to February.


Wii sales dropped about 23%.
X360 sales dropped about 23%.
PS3 sales dropped about 48%.
PS2 sales dropped about 1.4%.

PS3 sales dropped about 48%.

So their sales are down to 2%?

Whaaa? I' m saying there were 244,000 PS3s sold in January, and 127,000 sold in February, a 48% drop.
