Told you guys. That' s what happens when you rest on your laurels.

I don' t think anything... AT ALL, looks better than this game... Now how does it
play?

So, was it a LIVE gameplay demo? Where somebody actually had the pad and
played through it?

All I saw in that trailer was gameplay shorts, but it still looks believable almost up
to the standard of the CG trailer, just a choppier framerate, bland skin tones and
armour tones, textures nowhere near as good, but still crushing everything out
there.

Of course I don' t think I' ll buy this game, because the gameplay looks dated.

Congrats to Sony though, this may become a system seller.

Not anticipating the Nintendo conference!??!?! Dude, Metroid Prime 3!!
Dude, dude, dude, they HAVE to show it right? RIGHT!?!?!

...right?

Yes yes, Prime will be there. As will Mario Kart and Smash, but i kinda expect it all to be very underwhelming.

I love Metroid Prime, but i can' t help wonder what it' d be like on a far more powerful console. I mean the gap between last gen/Wii and this gen just keeps getting bigger. Things move on y' know?!

I dunno. I love Nintendo, i even bought a Nintendo t-shirt the other day with Mario through the ages (from 2D sprites to the 3D models evolution kinda thing) but i' m starting to feel abandoned.

The trailer is from the press site. The impressions on sites like IGN and Kotaku are on the onstage demonstration.

They apparently paused it as soon as the opening cutscene had finished and it' d moved into gameplay and panned the camera around like you can in MotorStorm.

Tiz, it' s not because the gameplay " looks" dated that it won' t be a very good game, Killzone 2 now has all the guns to blow everything out there. this game looks incredible.

Physics on objects look to be what you' d expect these days. Chairs and boxes kicked, moved and would spin as you would expect, but they don' t dent or deform or anything of that nature. There are destructible segments of the environment, though they look predefined and not dynamic. Planks of wood, a number of which were nicely placed for effects-value, would break and splinter when shot, but they look set up to do so. Pillars and other solid but breakable objects were similar. You can chip away at them, but don' t expect to write your name in the rubble.

Who called it? Eddie called it!

I' m buying a PS3 for this game. End of story.

Very impressed, Gifs from Neogaf incoming soon!

edit: Just seen the Halo 3 Hd trailer, and gotta say, Killzone looked alot better. Only think Halo had on it graphicaly is that its brighter.

1up said this.

W" e' d say that currently Gears of War tops it, and a few other titles are on the same visual level, but the game looks extremely nice."

But sure it looks really good, however gameplaywise killzone was bad,but we will see.

I' m just saying Aba, the first Killzone didn' t look half bad, but the gameplay is
what made it a bad game.

I hope it' s not repeated with this one, that being said, they did mention
implenting some new weather hellghast thingydoozy.

No matter what kind of neutral spin IGN try to put on it, they really just need to say that Killzone 2 owns, because it does graphically so far. Gameplay-wise, I
want to see what it has to offer, I even think Crysis will probably play like
a glorified FarCry with nice graphics, the only thing in Crysis deterring you from
the fact that the controls seem dated is because of the lovely backgrounds
that distract your jaw. Hopefully Killzone 2 takes advantage of 6-axis in ways
never imagined...

Now about that rumble feature I caught wind of...

I do have one major complaint, it' s about the explosion effect that I find to be incredibly " Meh!"

Oh, and while at it, I to think that the textures are kind of bland, and there seems to be some lack of lighting effects (wasn' t bloom effects what Next-Gen was all about? )

BTW: Is it too much to ask for a game, with the intense close combat of Kilzone, and the cool open area battles of Halo the Original?

Good on ya Guerilla for living up to a lot of people' s expectations!!!!!!!

This game by far is the best looking game so far in the Next-Gen era in my humble opinion. One thing I will ask for the more tech savvy members here, is about all of this that keeps coming up about these games not being possible without blu-ray. Is that true? I only ask because I was under the impression that with all of the new compression techniques, that most of these games could still be put onto a DVD9. I would really appreciate anyones help on this.

For Nitro, if you need a member for a Killzone team sign me up!!!!!!!

the devs said the one breif level they played through took up 2Gb of space, We wont know untill people get their hands on the final code if this is true or not..

This is getting retarded every ps3 game thats done by first or second party dev claims their games cant be on a DVD9.

I wonder why...

I thought the same, and Mass Effect looks as great as this, and will feature more play time than Kill Zone, probably 3 or 4 times more.

Not to argue about the DVD vs BluRay debate, this is just to adress the fact that you cannot compare the length of a fps to an RPG ever. An rpg can easily take 5 times as long to get through an area the same size as an FPS. Baldurs Gate II is a prime example of that. I' ve never worked so hard to make such little progress in an single player RPG.

Killzone 2 is the best next-gen console looking game period.

You get the results if you put in the work.....

Man, oh man, why couldn' t they do this with MotorStorm...?

Killzone really isnt too much more impressive than Gears of War, and the gameplay looks very Quake 2' ish.

It seems like people still want to hate on the game, is it the platform it' s on?

The game look great, no doubt sony have gotten what they are paying for - how much further will it come when it' s released?? Can' t wait to see.

The Blu-Ray comment, who cares, it' s gonna be said because they want to push blu ray as very important. But either way it makes no difference to gamers, so long as we can play the game.

Gameplay is obviously the area most skeptical, Ther first had a lot of hype over visuals, i hope GG really put the effort in. Though with sony spending so much on it, i can' t see them turning out a crap game... It' ll be good/solid i think, just maybe not great.

My vote' s locked in at a solid 8.9, which is more than good enough for me.

I' m just worried they won' t do anything with their lame sniper rifle. That thing really really sucked.[:' (]

Certain parts were epic and rather awesome, but the frustrating visual & gameplay glitches combined with akwardly placed checkpoints made for less than an amazing experience. Online was almost decent on it for a while, but everything on PS2' s playstation " nothing" has gone down since next-gen began.

Yeah, it honestly just felt rushed. I' m sure Sony wanted to get their potential " Halo-killer" clean out the door, & they really sacrificed what would have really been a good game. I' d suggest buying it now that it' s so old. I bought mine used for 9 bucks. It' s at least worth that.

Nice Comparisons Nitro

There' s no denying that KZ2 clearly shows a technical gap between 360 and PS3. IT was actually a prediction i made on these forums a few months before (but was instantly labelled a PS3 fanboy for it).

Looks the part, now i wonder if it supports the new Rumbleshock?

I really dont see the gap. The game is a year or more out. And not much better looking than gears of war released 6 months ago!

ill avoid calling you a fanboy this time.

IVe just watched the 720p trailer which i DL on PS network VIA bright HDMI PS3. It looks clearly alot better than any console game so far. You would be lying to yourself if you thought otherwise.

On a flip, i also D/l' d and watched the MG4 trailer, while it looked good, it was not mindblowing, even suffered from alot of framerate issues.

Please...

The first game was scored around 75% in avg.
Now the game has been hyped throguh the roof for 2 years just because of a CGI trailer.

Now that is ***ing bizzare.
That a 75% game can be hyped up from nothing just because of a CGI.

If the first game had deliver then I could have understand the hype, but it didn' t.

Yes the game is really good looking but it may be the same crap game as killzone was.

ps! Yes I had and liked Killzone on the ps2 but if someon here think halo is overhyped would have spit on that title then... because it was a little better then the avg shooter.
