The textures would have to be downgraded but it would run on a PS3. There is no way the 360 has already been pushed to its limits either.

It' s a quote that was taken out of context. 360 was originally supposed to have 256MB RAM and Epic convinced Microsoft to bump it up to 512MB, a move that has so far cost 1 billion Dollars. That' s what this is about, not PS3.

PS3 has 512MB RAM too and simply struggles with the engine.

This calculation is useless. Resistance: Fall Of Man wouldn' t work on a 360 either, so what does that tell us? That the PS3 is more powerfull? No, it doesn' t they' ve just built the game that way.

That' s what the quote is about. PS3 also has 512MB RAM, ...it has nothing to do with Gears not being able to run on PS3.

The original quote was by Mark Rein who was talking about Gears costing Microsoft 1 billion dollars because they told Microsoft they needed 512MB for Gears to be possible on 360. Microsoft originally had planned for 360 to only have 256MB RAM.

PS3 has nothing to do with this. The shady blog you linked to has simply lied. Epic know fully well that PS3 has 512MB RAM and the guy who posted that bullshit article is blatantly making the quotes up.
