Games everybody loves, and you hate - Nov 06, 2005 09:48
Ever get really hyped up about a game, read lods of brillant reviews and great feedback from gamers? and then finally get the game and end up hateing it? i know this has happened to me, with Metroid Prime 1+2. What a snore fest, i cant understand why a game with basic fps elements and fustrating[sp?] jumping elemelts managed to get the feedback it got, maybe i didnt spend long enough with it, or i just cannot stand scanning everything in sight. And this is coming from a guy who loves all the cut scenes in mgs, [at least its telling a decent story], just i felt let down by that game.

Anyway, did this ever happen to you? i can bet a few on Halo 2, and Gta after they get hyped so much.

Hah!! And I loved MP 1 and 2 Silentbomber! Maybe they were too hard for you.

It' s the GTA series for me. I' ve played bits San Andreas and 3, and have absolutely no desire to ever play them again. I just don' t get a silly little rise out of getting to be a ' bad boy' . Those games are awful, and I wouldn' t care if Rockstar was bought out my Mary Kate and Ashely and started developing shopping simulators instead.

Actually Silentbomber, I don' t hate Halo2. Was I disappointed? just a little bit, and I mean it, just a little bit. Other than that, Halo 2 is sick, dual weilding is sooo nice, u get to play Arbiter, which btw I loved and whatever...

Game that really disappointed me is COD2 - Big Red One. " Best looking game ever..." and whatever whatever, man that games doesn' t look good at all. They have improved the explosions a bit, but other than that, same ol same ol, which I like, but i mean goddamn it, graphics suck for the time we live in. I just played it on Xbox and I' m really disappointed.

GTA San Andreas was sooooooooooooooooo hyped up and the game turned out to suck. Man that game sucks and the graphics r horrible. I started disliking the GTA series since GTA III (which is the only GTA i love). But then since it took them a lil while to make GTA SA, I thought that maybe they improved on the graphics and the gameplay was gonna be diff. Oh well, Now the only game I' m looking forward to is PD0 and Condemned and Half-Life 2 for xbox.

I also don' t like the GTA series after they went to 3D, well not as much as it was hyped at least.

1 - The entire Gran Turismo series.
2 - The Jak n Daxter series - ESPECIALLY the original. I don' t think I' ve ever hated a platformer wannabe as much as I hated the original.
3 - Grand Theft Auto 3. Played it for close to an hour and lost interest. The only Grand Theft Auto game I really really liked was VICE CITY for two reasons. The 80s music and the game took place in a version of my home town
4 - Final Fantasy 1 through infinity .. Well until they release one with real-time battles, I guess I' ll always dislike the series.

FF7 and all other turn based games. I don' t enjoy slow thinking games. I like real time because you have to think faster. And no, I don' t like turn based with time limits either.

ALmost forgot the Silent Hill series. They all bored me to tears. Progress happens at a much slower rate than other survival horror games I' ve played.

Animal Crossing. It was all hyped-up at the release in europe because it was finally released after a looong time. I played it, I didn' t like it.

As far as next-gen Sonic stuff goes, the only one I thought was GREAT was the first Sonic Adventure released for the Dreamcast and later the GameCube. Every Sonic game that came afterwards disappointed me on some level.

Halo series (as well as most FPS games)
Final Fantasy series
Animal Crossing (I have more fun taking a dump)
Metal Gear Solid 2, 3
Metroid Prime series
3D Zelda games (yes that includes OOT)
Most sports games
Most crime games (like GTA, True Crime and whatnot)
RTS games (except for Herzog Zwei, which kicks insane amounts of ass!)

GTA:SA I reget buying that game ever since I bought it. That game is so overrated I swear. I cant believe I wasted 50 bucks on that boring piece of crap. I' m Glad I traded that horrid game with my nephew for Mercenaries I' m glad that at least that game is fun.

Final Fantasy series - Like the stories and art but hate the gameplay

Madden series

Tekken

---------------------------------------------------------
On a side note I loved GTA:SA like all the games of similar fashion simply because you can do just about anything (Like in Mercenaries, Elder Scrolls, True Crime). It makes for a good stress releiver. Altho in rank with the other titles of its kind it' s probably well below Mercenaries and Elder Scrolls(odd title to include with these games eh? But you can freely roam around that game and commit crimes as well).
