Sorry if you' ve seen these before, but I haven' t.

I thought Halo 2 was supposed to have graphics that were better than anything ever seen before by human eyes in the histrory of all mankind! It looks like your run of the mill average Xbox game. I don' t have multiple orgasms when I see the graphics like I am obviously supposed to. What happened?

All jokes aside, you think they could get some better quality pics. Its on a normal grainy tv, and the pictures look scanned, which makes matters worse. And Joe, CoR happend, it makes everything look less stunning.

Ahem, these aren' t official pictures. They were taken by a poor camera and clearly scanned, another thing, I don' t think they' re legal. You want a REAL good quailty picture? Then go to Bungie.net where the official pictures are taken.

You would have known this anyway if you were a real Halo 2 fan...

The difference between the pics in the beta and the ones you posted Chaotix is that the ones of the beta are actual gameplay, whereas the ones you posted are stationary shots.

I' m not saying that the beta pics are trash, and I also think that it' s not fair to say a game doesn' t look good because the people took a pic in bad lighting, with a bad camera, etc, etc. I' ve said it before and I' ll say it again...If you want to see Halo 2 then download the E3 demonstration video. It' s running at a full 60 frames per second and it looks better than the first Halo, and better than more than a few games out today.

Well someone has to test the game online in real world conditions. I was able to test the Capcom game called Auto Modellista online well before it was released. The first beta was great. They ruined the controls in the second and those were the controls they kept. They also kept " Capcom Guy' s" voice in there. :(

No problem, because as I' m sure you know the pics you' ve posted have already been doubted by several people at these forums. Posting those pics only gives another reason to question Bungie' s graphic engine.

Many of you probably saw threads on various Halo or Xbox forums this weekend about leaked beta screenshots. Bungie has yet to make a public announcement about this (it' s unlikely that they ever will, actually), but there are many clues that suggest that these aren' t fakes; that they did, in fact, come from a beta version of Halo 2. Putting aside the legal issues (which aren' t actually minor), there' s a really good reason to keep pics like this away from the public... many casual gamers don' t realize that a beta version is NOT a final version. Often, there are elements that have been added specifically for beta testers - debugging information, or extra on-screen displays, so that testers can provide useful feedback to the creation team. (Beta testing isn' t a game; that should have been made clear from the recent Bungie.net article. It' s pretty serious business.) When beta shots hit the public, though, many people are oblivious to the fact that they' re looking at a test image. We' ve already had folks griping on our forum about how cluttered the HUD looks, and how disappointed they are in Bungie for putting so much crap onscreen. Others read these comments, maybe without even looking at the pictures themselves, and the ideas spread... and before too long, there' s buzz about how crappy the interface of Halo 2 is. Only... it' s NOT the interface of Halo 2 - it' s the interface for BETA TESTERS. Boiled down: the final product can NOT be judged by the appearance of an early beta - but because many people can' t make distinctions like that, pictures of early betas do NOT belong in the public eye

I have the leaked Half Life 2 beta.And damn how crappy does Half Life 2 look.Ive seen PS1 games look better.

That is now my new favorite phrase in the world, replacing the incredibly awesome and quite intelligent " teh ghey" . You have to admit, " teh ghey" has advanced literacy to a whole new level not thought possible only years ago. Shakespeare has nothing on modern day linguists who coin pharses like " teh ghey" .

Anyway, aside from the beta code that is onscreen, that is way closer to how Halo 2 will look on your TV screen than the artificially high resolution screenshots that Bungie has been pumping out. The game won' t support more than 480p 16:9 (525p in PAL regions), so there is no way you will ever see Halo 2 look as sharp as Bungie' s pics.

TheXFactor, you' re absolutely right. I completely agree with everything you said about these leaked beta shots. I' ve read multiple threads at multiple forums with these leaked photos and people criticizing the game because of them. I can' t believe people are foolish enough to try to judge a game by beta shots, when everybody knows beta is nowhere near finished (typically).
