Star Wars: Knights of the old republic - Jul 30, 2007 22:51
I recently head about this game and the reviews were incredible, does it really live up to them?

PS> Is it compatible with the 360?

It is on the list of games that work with the 360. The first one is really exceptional, i havent completed the second one yet, its on my to do list, but its not quite up to par with the first, but definetly one of the better rpgs released last gen.

Well, its defintly one of the better rpg' s ever made.
for me its a 9/10 game.

Havn' t played it since the xbox era so dont know how good it holds up,but I suggest you play it still, because the people behind Mass effect did Kotor, and just get a feel for it.Because in ME they' re taking it to another dimension.

Definitely get it. It can even be enjoined when you are not Star Wars Fan at all.

In my opinion the best RPG of the past generation. The second one is nice, too but imo it recycles too much from the first. But hey, KotOR 2 was developed by other folks so it' s easy to explain why it' s worse than the KotOR1.

Oh God! Your timing is like perfect because I' m just about to finish it and I started playing it about a month ago. I played it long ago when it was new but I was far from finishing it back then.
I can say it lives up to the reviews, and IMO opinion it exceeds them.
If you' re a Star Wars fan then it doesn' t get any better than KotOR.
You' re probably wondering, can it compete with the next-gen games? I say it can. To be honest, I think KotOR is better than any of the 360 games so far. It' s a great game. And still today the graphics are as impressive as any next-gen game thanks to great design.
I played it on the 360 so it' s BC. It did have some weird sound glitches, frame rate issues and stuff, but whether that' s from the original game, the emulation, or my dirty disc I don' t know.
Buy it, play it, love it, and look forward to Mass Effect

It looks veeery good.
Many interior scenes are pretty lame (although the Ebon Hawk and some other places look awesome) but most outdoor environments are great. When you get out of the colony on Korriban, or when you' re in the desert on Tatooine, you WILL be impressed by how nice it looks.
I mean, I didn' t say it was as technically impressive as next-gen games. What I' m saying is that is so well designed that you won' t notice that the graphics aren' t up to date.

Unless you are a pure technical graphics whore of course... ahem.

Dude you are acting like this game has PS1 graphics...

Anyway, I can say the graphics of KotOR 1 don' t detract any bit from the gamefun value, even though the game has clearly aged.

I' d like to see a " director' s cut" of kotor2 for the 360 where they fill in all the plot holes they left out the original release due to time constraints. I' m torn between which of the kotors is better, the plot works much better in the first, but the ability to influence your team in the second was better.

The only problem with KOTOR on PC is that there is no widesceen support. I don' t play games that don' t have widescreen support.

If you' re a star wars fan or even remotely like Star Wars then it' s a must.

I love the games, both the second and first. Every time I go to EB games I look for the PC versions of either game. I' ve seen them a few times but I was too dumb to pick them up.

HK-47 Best character in a videogame ever.
