If no then what game can possibly top it ? mass effect??

Lets wait untill Dec 31st before declaring a winner for 2007. Many of the best canidates are not even out yet including Bioshock.

We can talk about the runners for GOTY, but it' s premature to call it in August, we still have over 1/3 of the year to go.

I say we do it January 1st when we' re all tired, hung over or still plastered.

If I was a betting man on what I think will and should be the game of the year I' d put everything on Unreal Tournament III, maybe Mass Effect.

Jan 1st, I' ll be so drunk I won' t be able to find my ass from last Tuesday.

I' ll probably sign in anyways just to gloat as to how much UT III kicks ass.

I honestly don' t think Unreal Tournament has a chance for game of the year. One of the runner up and probably a heavy leader in the FPS genre, but not game of the year.

Call of Duty 4, 100% certain to be game of the year.

I haven' t even played the game yet, but Bioshock has my vote.

Others I think might be game of the year material are

Crysis
Mass Effect
CoD4

Whilst I believe them all to turn out great, I seriously doubt any of those will turn out better than Bioshock. Why I think so? I dunno!

the " issue" i have with bioshock is that it doesn' t look to be tha game of the yar it odesn' t look to be that , i' m so happy it got so many awesome reviews, heck this might the best game rated of ALL TIME, so far 99% this is totaly crazy!!

but i still don' t see what is the cause of alll these high reviews, not high but rather incredible, i will find out soon and give my impressions as soon as possible.

Yeah, it' s because this game came out of nowhere. I mean I was hyped a bit, but I paid more attention to GTAIV, Halo 3, SM Galaxy or Mass Effect, I thought Bioshock is going to be a game that' ll score about 90. But well, it' s a pleasant surpirse.

Btw. I am betting Edge is going to give it 6/10 so they can still be " different" from mainstream mags.

Hold on you are all talking about " Game of the Year." As was stated earlier there is still a 3rd of the year left not only that, you also have titles that are still to be released, on all formats. Personally I think there maybe a few surprises in the next couple of months.

Because i' m not susceptible to the hyperbole surrounding the Bioshock and/or Mass Effect.

Mass Effect will be awesome but will fall far short of gamers expectations and it' s initial promises, and Bioshock, while pretty kickass, is only getting so much attention because the only games we' ve had in the last two months have been dumb-as-fuck super blockbuster cash-ins.

The smart money is on Call of Duty 4.

There' s an inherent problem with rating games on a numeric basis. According to these numbers, there will never be a better game than Bioshock...

We all know that' s just not true.

It' s why I prefer a detailed impression of a game instead of a lame 1.0-10.0 rating.
