Toshiba came up with this concept as a response to the growing need for simulated VR environments. Recall Virtusphere, where a platform, a hollow sphere, and a head mount (visor) allow you to get a realistic feel of the game. It also works for virtual explorations, like manning a spacecraft or roaming a virtual city.
