Want a GIANT Virtual Reality helmet?

Put it on, grab your joystick, and enjoy a full 360-degree view of your tube with this three-kilo helmet from Toshiba. Ladies and gentlemen, the new visual revolution has dawned upon us. Toshiba came up with this concept as a response to the growing need for simulated VR environments. Recall Virtusphere, where a platform, a hollow sphere, and a head mount (visor) allow you to get a realistic feel of the game. It also works for virtual explorations, like manning a spacecraft or roaming a virtual city. We may not be able to outline the full features of this amazingly gargantuan helmet (except for the fact that the dome screen measures 40 centimeters), but one thing' s for sure: Toshiba must be dead serious in its futuristic technological vision to revolutionize our TV-watching that they may have missed the point of 3G mobile phones and iPods. Anyone heard of reduction technology? Man, this giant helmet rocks! (Hey, still wanna watch TV or what?) LINKY

look at the size of that thing.... This investment in VR helmets don´t seem to a wise decision...i doubt this kind of accesory will become mainstream anytime soon and many companies in the past lost a lot of money in VR helmets research... ...besides who would want to wear that bubblehead helmet? and pay for it?

ROFL! At first I was going to comment on how funny it was that they got a little girl to model the giant helmet, but when I looked at the picture again I think it might actually be an adult wearing it. My understanding is that one of the major problems that has been holding VR back since the ' 90s is that if there is the slightest slip in sync between the user' s motions and the video display, it causes serious nausea after just a few minutes. With the huge amounts of data that have to be processed to render a full 360-degree display, it' s been difficult to avoid any such slipping off sync.

There are two rules to success: 1. Never tell all you know.
