Anyone has problems with their PS3 and wireless connectivity? Does it cause the router to be restarted every time after going online? I use a Linksys Wireless G Broadband Router (WRT54G)

That is like the cheapest mainstream router in the world, get something good and you wont have problems.

No i don't think that is the problem. Accessing the web on the PS3 is no problem, but from what they told me, it's after using the PS3 online, the router itself gives problems. Pages don't load and time out using the internet on the computer. So they end up resetting the router every time. emofag i am not having problems with my PS3.

"I can confirm that the European PS3 v1.80 causes my Linksys WRT54G (v7) to reboot constantly. I disabled UPnP in the router configuration, and this did not help. I then disabled the PS3 media server functionality, and the problem disappeared. Now I can't use my PS3 as a media player. I must conclude that the PS3's media server is causing the problem, but as previously mentioned in this thread, NOTHING should be able to reboot the router without permission - this is a security flaw!" This sounds like the problem

I gave them the link and they said "it seems like it" So my next question is how to fix it without buying a new router and if a new router is required what are your recommendations?

I ended up editing the message above because i did not want to double post. but here the written problem with the PS3 and internet: as for the ps3..i dunno. we set everything up correct..but wehn ittries to test/connect it just stays on that..basically freezes.and uhave no response unless u choose turn off system. and on our internetit goes down..and u can't use it..unless u reset the router. we dunnowhy. prob some settings..we have on automatic.we might put it inmanually. Is the solution to upgrade the router software?

Apparently switching of the Media Server on the PS3 should fix the problem. Go to "Settings" Scroll down to "Network Settings" Scroll down to "Media Server Connection" Disable it and that should fix it Since I'm only 15 I don't have any real experience with routers but CNET reviews them. The routers including pricetag and sorted by review score I hope it helps On the upgrading router software part. I don't know if it would help. From what I read on the LinkSys forums yesterday it seems like LinkSys and Sony are working on a solution but they haven't found any yet

Get a new router. For the time and energy you'll put into making the one you have work, it's easier to do a bit of research, and find one that's confirmed compatible. No, it's not any help, but I blew through two routers before I could find one compatible with my 360. I would have rather just dropped the cash on something that I knew would work. How can you operate a computer if you have difficulty setting up a ps3? Geek Squad. If you paid them the right money, I'm sure they'd install your PS3 for you.
