The movie takes content mostly from Silent Hill 1 & 2 but also features ' Dark Silent Hill' which I think appears in 3. Basically the world goes dark and everything turns from ' normal' to ' rotting' . All the Silent Hill games are self contained stories with completely different characters. There are some things to link the games and some references are made to characters who appear in other games but that’s it.
