A little better than regular ol' Xbox.

Pretty good, but you' re stuck with the 4:3 aspect ratio.

You are probably stuck with the 4:3 if your monitor is a 4:3, but if you have a widescreen monitor or your widescreen HDTV has a VGA you can get 16:9. It is also possible your monitor has 16:9 where there are black spaces, but most monitors don' t have that option.

It will look way way better with VGA than on a standard TV.

I don' t know of any TVs that support 100Hz. The visuals will look better on VGA than component, though only slightly, and you will be limited to the tiny size of your monitors. They do make " widescreen" monitors but none of them are true 16:9. Monitors that support resolutions like 1680 x 1050 or whatnot are the norm for " widescreen" monitors (which is a less-wide 16:10 ratio), but you may be able to have the Xbox 360 letterbox that slightly and it will look more than fine.

Yeah if you have a 100Hz TV, each field is scanned twice. Too bad you don' t have a 120Hz TV, that way you could enjoy 60 frames per second and it would look nice and smoooth.

You' re both right.

Those TV' s (and I have a sony 36" 100Hz TV) are said to be 100Hz but it is in fact (" 100Hz" i their specs)a system that fills the interlaced screen using AI system. It isn' t true 100Hz - it makes the screen looks great and stops things from shimmering.

If I were you I' d go for 32" TV - you won' t get the true next gen detail , but it' s much better for both movies and games than the 19 inch TFT and it' s wide baby :)

Plus you won' t experience framerate drops because of using lower resolutions.

Joe - EU PAL TV' s support 60HZ and since Dreamcast - thank you SEGA - we can play 60 FPS :) (before that I had to play NTSC games because PAL systems didn' t support it)

That said HD is f***** Cool - still it' s not THAT big of a deal for me.

sorry for answering so late...

I' ve enjoyed two months of gaming with my X360 on a standard TV 4:3 70cm tube.

I simply can' t believe some say " it' s better than Xbox" - IT' S FANTASTIC! I use PAL60 with 16:9 aspect and the graphics are many times better than Xbox 1.

PGR3 especially looks great - no reason to buy a expensive HDTV set yet.

I' m currently debating whether to go VGA with my 360. My projector has the input, and I DO have a 15ft VGA cable, but;

a) I' d need a male to male adapter to run the cable from the proprietary 360 cable to the 15 footer...

b) That' d be ONE MORE CABLE running to my projector!

That second point one would be very disappointing. You see, initially I bought my Yamaha receiver with the intent of running ONE cable to my projector; just HDMI. Then I discovered (once I got the damn thing) that the upconversion that it touts so much only goes from composite or s-video to component, not to HDMI! Since my Xbox, PS2 and 360 all have component outputs that meant that I had to run a second cable (realize that this is a projector which sits a nice distance from the components). I feel like VGA might not give me the graphical advantage enough to run ANOTHER damn cable!

Well, that' s my story. Truth be told, I' ll probably try it eventually.

Edit:

Well, I just learned that the Xbox 360 VGA adapter comes with a male AND female plug, so an adapter won' t be necessary! Yay! Also, my projector' s max resolution is 1280x768 (as opposed to 1280x720 or 720p). This is pretty cool, I guess. A little bit more resolution in VGA! Now I just have to scrape up some money for a 360 VGA adapter!
