Videogame Fan Art..
-
May 03, 2007 04:46
Thought I might take this opportunity to start a new creative thread, as well as welcome back my regular days of Kikizo (hopefully). This thread is mainly for videogame fan art, of course, keeping with Kikizo tradition, it can veer off topic slightly, but the main body is fan art. Or any art relating to videogames... Firstly, I' ll get the ball rolling with a character I' m sure most will recognise and all will love. Hazuukiiiiiiiii RYO!!! This was done in Photoshop 7.0 in about 8 hours, reference used the entire time. I thought that it' d be great to have an immortalized version of one of the best videogame characters in history... Told you, you' d all like it..

ORIGINAL: SpaceJase That' s a good effort mate. Ryu looks a touch ' plasticy' though. I forgot to add " noise texture" to make it look as grainy as the actual image, but thanks for the feedback much appreciated. I' ve been hanging out at CGSociety.org lately, been following a couple of digital artists, i must say there work is amazing, and it inspired me to do this pic. The next one I' m doing is a VF5 one. I' m just gonna do it in my own style though. However, that could take ages. I can almost imagine the Hyrulean theme tune to that flamboyant link.lol

It' s a hobby that I am looking to turn into a profession, I applied for a concept story board artist position but never got it because of my presentation, they said that the drawings were fine but they wanted a clear cut presentation and more WACOM work (something you' ll need as the majority of artists have now gone digital). My website is taking far longer than expected Ginj, that' s only because I was working full time and could not dedicate the amount of hours into the work that I wanted to. So we' ve reformed ourselves and now have someone actually monitoring the rate of work, and keeping us in order, so all I' ll say is, it will be up soon. I still have VX' s character to run through in Photoshop, I think it' s due a next gen overhaul. Any more fanart please submit.

Your skill with the brush makes the rest of us ashamed of the humble creations we toil to finish.

Well, I was absolutely crap with the WACOM and because it is my ambition to take my art further, I started bumming out [link=www.cgsociety.org]here[/link] It helped me loads, so I decided to repeat my first ever digital image in a next-gen sorta way. Although I' d say I' m somewhere between journeyman and expert in an Elder Scrolls kind of fashion.

Don\t get me the wrong way, Tiz. She\s really, REALLY well drawn, but you\d have to excuse me for not wanting to date her. Perhaps a one night stand if she keoos the bag on the head, but that\s only IF! Flashing my skills. This Snake is taken from a flash movie I did for school, that is still in development, but currently put on ICE, as Im currently busy doing graphics for 3 games. [:' (]

You can' t always draw beautiful people. In real life, most people are really, really ugly. It' s just that they pass by unnoticed so you think that most people look good. Being able to actually draw people that doesn' t look very beautiful is skillful. Even most characters that are supposed to look ugly in games or movies actually look good. Now, maybe his intentions wasn' t drawing an ugly chick but I still like the uglyness of the girl Her face is the problem though. It looks slightly twisted, especially on the apprentice pic. I think the novice pic is the best one when it comes to the face, while the apprentice pic has the best body.

I actually find it harder to draw beautiful people than Ugly ones. Since with sexy\cute\beatifule people even just a millimeter drawn wrong can change a person fron Angelina Jolie to Jon Voight. Still, like I said. I think Tiz has some serious skillz and I really like that Ryo U got there. Almost looks like you took a screenshot and copy pasted it with some filters. It is Crazy Awesome.

Tiz, when you say reference used it implies that you used multiple images of the character to create an original piece, not copied an existing piece... But i prefer yours. CGSociety is a good place to get crits, and even get yourself noticed, but don' t limit yourself to the one site. Conceptart.org is a great place to post you work as people like CliffyB look there for artists to do concept art.

Sorry, I really should say copied an existing piece... Reference used sounds cooler. I' ll look into that conceptart.org as well. Thanks for that. My one looks a lot more miserable. My mum saw me doing it and was like... What' s wrong with him. I said, his dad died.

ORIGINAL: Tiz My one looks a lot more miserable. My mum saw me doing it and was like... What' s wrong with him. I said, his dad died. Hahahahaha... Yours has a far more stylized look and the slightly lighter colour tones look better. More natural. Hey did you buy The Art Of Videogames. It' s out now and it' s like £8. I nearly picked it up yesterday. Check it out... With regard to your 2nd image, i think the contrast between light and dark is too high. Her face is symetrical but because of the shadowing it looks a little off. Try lightening the right side and slightly straighten her nose. Other than that it' s excellent. I wonder what she' d look like as a brunette though...
