Chinese media game 163 interviewed Yu Suzuki after the presentation of SO. Thanks to Kiyuu for the rough Translation.

Some Important notes of this interview:

YS: The biggest difference is that the players can be promoted in online games, which can
attract the players more easily. Online traveling is a brand-new game style.


YS: Through the development, we' re constantly improving every aspect. I believe the degree
of freedom can be improved unceasingly.


YS: At this moment, SO doesn' t have as much detailed world outlook as " Shenmue" had.
But, I' m trying diligently to integrate the spirit of " Shenmue" into SO.

YS: Shenmue is my favorite, as I closely related to everything; character design, scenarios,
motions, musics, etc.

Also In another interview Yu confirms that all of the main Shenmue II characters will appear in Shenmue Online.

Yu' s recent comment before china expo almost confirms.

Yu Suzuki:" Regarding Shenmue 3, we' re not carrying on relative development yet, and I can' t give you any further information for the time being."

Don' t worry Shenmue fans this is not Shenmue III but this is a a Shenmue title that We didn' t expect to see it like this because as you know this is a MMORPG not a F.R.E.E(FACT)

just watched that video and OMG...while some of the last FMV was mainly an old promotional Shenmue Online video it had great sequences about real Shenmue story

Shenmue Online is a MMORPG not a F.R.E.E

I think that' s why some true Shenmue fans are saying it' s crap.

Now,Angry Shenmue fans (from the video) can be divided into to two parts:
(I was a little bit angry too at but now I' m silent)

1-The people who hate from magical things, fire balls, CG movies & probably KIDS.

I think those people must watch Project Barekly DEMO again
Fiction elements does exist in Shenmue and They will be in Shenmue III too.

Also existence of these kind of elements is a must for MMORPGS.
Look at the best seller MMOS...They all have magics
(YS likes FF XI)

2-The people who think Shenmue Online will really continue Shenmue III' s story & Shenmue III will never comes.

But I say there will be a Shenmue III because Yu has never said


" Shenmue Online is Shenmue III therefore there will be no any Shenmue III and Shenmeu fans Shhhh!" Right?

Do you think that series will finish trough MMORPGS style
(Massively Multiplayer Online RPG Genre) or Shenmue III will back to it' s original & real genre " F.R.E.E" (FULL REACTIVE EYES ENTERTAINMENT)

As you know this MMORPG style
" is turing Shenmue into a Final Fantasy XI or World Of War Craft like game" .

Yes, They have saved some original Shenmue features but We have never used from fire balls or probably whight & black magics in any Shenmue game.

Also We have never summoned an AEON (fiction creatures) in any Shenmue game before.

If you still don' t believe that this MMORPG style is turing Shenmue into a FF like game & haven' t see the new SO video from CHINA.

What made me enjoy Shenmue so much was the fact that Shenmue´s world was like real world...no Kamehameha like Dragon Ball, just real fist fight.

And if you say that i am a kid just because i said i didn´t want those magical kamehamehas in Shenmue then you´re a moron.

Shenmue Online has got the Shenmue mini-games, it said so in the trailer. That' s reason enough for me to buy it .
It looks a little weird with all the magic though and to be honest I was disappointed at the end of Shenmue 2 when the sword started flying with that weird glow and stuff (maybe there' s a logical, scientific explanation to that... hopefully). But I' m sure they' ll make a good game despite all the crap.
If it becomes good we' ll hopefully see it outside of China. If it' s bad then we' ll just pretend it was never made.

Shenmue as always had spiritual/magic elements. How else could two old mirrors be so important?

I can accept magic in Shenmue
IF
I find a way to shoot lightning and other magic with my hands in real life.

I dunno how I would feel if majic came to the story I mean what would have been the point in learning all of those moves?, and collect moves scrolls?. If suddenly puzzzzzazzzzz ryo has inherited the way of the phoenix and can shoot fireballs ...I would laugh. And the ending of shenmue 2 wasn' t ' ' majical' ' her (shenhua) father has been down in those tunnels for ages doing all that stuff carving the stones and whatever if that was majic would' nt what zhu did with the mirror be considered as majic aswell?.

What Zhu did with the mirrors was probably not magic. It was the light that was reflected in the stone at precise angles. It' s possible to do that stuff.Maybe not in ancient China but then, Ryo did have a Sega Saturn in 1986... THAT' S MAGIC!
