Regardless of whether or not you subscribe to the belief that we have evolved from lower mammals... this is about science and religion (using Christianity for the sake of argument). A 47 million year old fossil couldn't possibly exist if the world was only created 6000... Do i think that they're right and this is the missing link? Yes.

It's only a subset of Christians. Most Christians are honest enough to accept the evidence. I don't know why but a lot of Americans Christians seem to have trouble with evolution. If I was a bullshit artist or a Christian and I wanted to promote religion. I would shave off the obvious lies to make it more acceptable. I don't really get the big deal. Its not as if evolution is solid proof against creationism. Evolution is only meant to describe the diversity of life. It doesn't attempt to explain the origin of life or the origin of the spacetime. As a thorn against Christianity, evolution exposes only one of many of glaring inconsistencies or falsehoods in the bible. The mistakes and stupidities in the bible are so vast both in quantity and severity that to me evolution is a minor issue. Evolution itself is not debatable in the scientific community though, no respected biologist is questioning evolution itself (not even the Christian biologists). It really hurts a theists position when they attack modern science only in the interest of defending their stories. Like you mentioned Majik, the age of the Universe is one of the more shocking Christian stupidities. Aside from fossils and carbon dating and dozens of other methods we use to judge age of planets and such. I only have to mention the stars and junk in the sky to quickly dispel the 6000 year old myth. Many galaxies we can see are over billions of light years away. That means we are looking at stars as they were billions of years ago.

You need to be a believer to make it to heaven, heretic. Or you can just repent on your deathbed and all will be forgiven.

Or maybe we didnt come from lesser animals. Maybe jumping to conclusions every time we find a new fossil has been stupid in the past. Maybe evolution did happen, but not to humans in the extent we saw it in other animals. Maybe Christians need to accept the fact that the bible is mostly fairy tales, while evolutionist need to quit being butthurt. Maybe both groups should focus on a more prudent problem, like the birth rate in Europe making it a majority Muslim continent in 20 years.

Thanks, I'll focus on that prudently.

They'll just twist it around and say god intended for evolution to happen, etc.

What's wrong with thinking Evolution is God's design?

Eddie_the_Hated What's wrong with thinking Evolution is God's design? That's the one thing I don't get, that argument holds if you believe in God. I don't get why fundamentalist have to be so fundamental all the time.

I dunno. I'd consider myself fundamentalist, and I still manage to accept almost every portion of evolution as sound science.

Because it dimishes their credibility, everytime sciennce advances they change their stories, so they try to change them as little as possible.

Agent Ghost Choup are you meeting your quota? How many younglings do you have so far? According to statistics he should be having around 6 point something in his lifetime, as opposed to you other Europeans who should be having around 1.6. On another related note, none of the articles I can find say why this is the "missing link", other than it has opposable thumbs and forward facing eyes. SRS? Dont all primates? Is there a missing link? Maybe. Is this it, or just a new variant of Mika.. I mean ape? Most likely the latter. Sounds like some group of scientists and archeologists are trying to get their names in a history book along with enough grant money to buy more gold on WoW. A chimp has opposable thumbs and forward facing eyes, so by this logic it must be the missing link as well. I just dont buy that this MUST be the 'missing link', because of 2 things that ALL primates have in common.

I don't think I could cope with 6 kids! 2 of the fuckers would be enough. Don't have any at the moment, and not planning to get married yet. Planning to keep my freedom for a little while longer at least.... that is if you can call a constant life of work free.

You're what I consider to be a normal guy who just happens to be Muslim.
