PS3 Update 1.80
-
Jun 01, 2007 01:29
Hey guys. Does anyone have a PS3 with version 1.80 firmware installed? If so, do you know if it can upcale PS2 games and DVDs to full 1080p? Also, if it can, I seem to be having a problem doing so on my TV; does anyone have any ideas why this might be? Thanks, as always.

Having tried my ps3 through my friend 1080p tv i can confirm for you that dvds and ps2 games do indeed scale to 1080p (as his tv display the signal that gets pushed through) I have no idea why you might have a problem, is your tv 1080p? does your ps3 setting reflect it, perhaps automatic isn' tset up? couldn' t say beyond that unfortunately, but wait are you using hdmi? component doesn' t work for all dvds apparent not had to worry about that.

try setting your ps3 to upscale to 1080p, sometimes that option is not enabled.

Well, allow me to clarify: I have a 1080p capable, 42 inch Westinghouse monitor. I have my PS3 connected to it with an HDMI cable on the PS3 side and a DVI out on the TV' s side. My PS3 can upscale to all resolutions up to 1080i, but when I try for 1080p the screen just goes blank and the upscaling gets turned off. Does anyone know why this might be happening?

Seems like the westinghouse dosn' t accept 1080p input, might be better to get answers if you asking tried on a more technical oriented forum like beyond3d, or atleast provided your TV-model number, since there probably are several 42" Westinghouse-monitors. I know some TV' s cheat when they advertise 1080p capable, only accepting 1080i input and then scales the output to 1080p.. :-/ Not sure if Westinghouse do that tough. :-/
