NEW RED STEEL Screens

Developers say they focus on eyecandy mostly since Wii can' t render photorealistic graphics , they tend to make envirotments desaturated (low colour level) in contrast with the flashy colorful neons. It seems like those enviroments aren' t really that detailed...but with great gameplay this game could be outstanding.

Maybe i need to see the game running infront of me, but the games visuals really are unimpressive - current gen-like. Hope it plays well, there was something on the controls over at joystiq, how some actions are mapped (fancy things you couldn' t do yourself they say) but it takes some time to recognise your motions.

Does kinda look unimpressive for current-gen but maybe it runs better in motion. I swear everytime I see that guy in the picture I have to laugh it reminds me of e3.

It looks nice imo , but it' s definitely not a next gen title - even SC Chaos Theory looked much better on Xbox. Gameplay could make it a great title though.

Gameplay " is" what matters. If you only care for graphic dont get a ps3 or xbox360,invest in a pc and keep upgrading. ...ps! not that ps3/xbox360 wont do better or equal graphic in years to come, you know whgat i meant.

yeah , but seeing how this game improved in visuals since E3 - I think it should be at least good looking. And it actually looks like FUN :)

you guys know Wii titles are current gen visualy. They might have one or two decent titles [like mario galaxy] but the majority are going to look like red steel/sonic wild fire/tony hawks down hill jam.

The visuals don' t bug me at all. I remember them saying that the visuals wouldn' t be that much more amazing than the Xbox, so I took their word at face value. We all know that the Wii' s graphics (for the most part) aren' t going to be recognised as next gen. I like the style they' ve presented, but I do have one beef. The guns are too friggin huge! There' s probably some reason they didn' t give them a more realistic size, but even still, that was an instant turn off at E3, and I was hoping they' d change them.

you guys know Wii titles are current gen visualy. But they could be twice as detailed when you look at those specs and none of the Wii titles has visuals on par with SC Chaos Theory for Xbox. Not to mention Doom3 and so on. The only game that really looked next gen for me was Mario Galaxy.

ATI said that what we saw at E3 (at which Red Steel was shown) was just the tip of the iceberg of what the Wii could do. Personally, I think Red Steel looks good. There' s lots of detail and cool effects and the art direction looks really great. The character models look life like even though they lack all the next-gen details. So I' m quite satisfied with the graphics. But the gameplay matters the most, and in this case it' ll be the controller that determines what the gameplay will be like. Earlier reports where somewhat negative but Ubisoft has had lots of time to fix all the problems so I' m expecting a pretty good game. Not AAA but it' ll definitely be worth buying. I' m rather buying Metroid Prime 3 than Red Steel though. This is an early Wii game so I expect slightly better graphics in the end. I mean, Resident Evil 4 on the Gamecube looks better so I' m sure we' ll see better looking games than Red Steel.

Well this game looks better then any GameCube game I' ve ever seen, graphically. This sort of game has everything riding on how well the Wiimote works. If the crosshair is as accurate as a laser pointer (the Wiimote has to have its sights straight) with the inclusion of rotation then this game could be pretty good. If it works like the duck hunt gun then Wii and all of its games will flop.

I think some people are being unfair. Red Steel looks far nicer than the vast majority of current (last) gen titles. The animation rocks, the lighting is very nice and there is very little aliasing. As a launch title for an underpowered (in the grand scheme of things) console this is a good looking launch title. Mario Galaxy and Excite Truck look awesome too.

BiA: Earned in Blood/Road to Hill 30, Deus Ex: Invisible War, SWAT 4, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, Tribes Vengance, Pariah, Unreal Tournament 2003/4 etc all use Unreal Engine 2/2.5 (Red Steel is listed as using 2.5 along with DNF and BioShock). Most (not all) of those games are still visually pleasing and with any luck the devs will pull some nice partical effects off too. I expect it to look nice but i don' t expect it to improve visually from what we' ve seen. It does look much nicer in motion though.
