sorry to hear this magik, this is really scray , investing so much money in a console to break in less than a year, but you were aware of the risk by buying a launch unit, still i don' t understand one thing why in the heck would you buy another console if microsoft wil REPLACE your unit, will they replace or repair anyway ? if it' s the latter i' ll understand your decision...

Microsoft have emailed me some labels and they' re going to replace the unit. I spent 40 minutes on the phone with some super-hot-sounding American girl earlier today and she didn' t ask me to do anything with it. I explained what i' d already tried and she typed it all up.

I damn near had an Xbox 360 scare at 1 am this morning... I inserted the Dead or Alive Xtreme 2 game disc into the system for the first time and got some greyish/off-white screen of doom that instructed me to insert a game disc into the unit.

Did it say something along the lines of " Please insert this disk into an Xbox 360 console, because I' m getting that quite often now.

It seems that Gears of war was responsible for my 360' s death. 2 of my friends who got 360' s on the same day, with the same manufacture date (from the same batch) have had their 360' s die on them while playing Gears of War.

There are other reports cropping up too on other forums. It appears to be just launch units that are affected and so i' m going to check the manufacture date of my new machine tomorrow. I want one manufactured within the past 2 months! If i buy one from Virgin i' ll be able to see as they actually have them on the shelves in their cool as fuck bags.

Microsoft better not repair my original console. I want a damn new one now!

More specifically my l33t skillz in GOW did it. They were just too much. Tho I guess you can sort of blame Gears as it was that game that I unleashed my power! I do apologize and promise I will ease up to all others I play.

I' m buying a new console this afternoon. Luckily it won' t take long to recover and download my profile from XBL, and since i' ve completed Gears on Causal and got the achievements, i' ll be able to jump into whatever chapter i want and select the difficulty meaning i won' t just have to start playing through act 1 again on hardcore. I can jump straight into act 2!

I' ve had something similar to that. I was playing Halo 2, and when I exited an area, I had a burn in of the urban matte painting in the background.

I don' t own an LCD/Plasma, so that' s not the problem, & I played through for a while, & still no dice. I tried my copy on a friend' s Xbox with no problems, so I' m pretty sure it' s a problem with emulation, however, it' s getting worse/clearer the more I play. I' ve let it rest for ages, & I still get that shadow background. I' m just hoping its just

not a recurring problem.
