Why would he keep re-iterating that it' s NOT a games machine though. First it was " a super-computer for the home" , then a " multi-media hub" , then " and affordable Blu-Ray player" and now " a computer" (meaning PC-esque).

What would be wrong with saying " it' s the 3rd Playstation console and it' s going to be more of the same and then more on top, -- plus, you get a free Blu-Ray player..." ???

Upgradeing and installing program/application will not be possible, but doing so will have the same effect as a PC system crashes/screen of death, and a waste of $500-700 of next-gen and software/access cost, what is kutaragi thinking a PS3 is a computer not a gameing machine( too many wasabi Ken), if I want a Sony related brand PC, I' ll get a intell P4 3.4ghz Hyper threading 2gb of ram and a high end 512mb graphic card Sony VAIO, now thats a PC, the PS3 can never take over a PC position, a PC has unlimited freedom of whatever you desire, which a PS3 can' t, and if I buy a PS3 it' ll sure be a gameing machine.

exc ept sony' s vaio arm are having trouble making any money at all!

not only have they had a number of large hardware issues the Vaio brand (exluding corporate laptops!) sturggle to appeal to the masses, the vaiolink website is rubbish with poorly maintained FTp servers often not allowing downloads at all etc..

I used to run a 500 machine network, and 2-3 year olf vio desktops are notorious!

So I think they should be distancing themselves from " being a computer!! "

My advice to Sony:
Drop everything else and make Trinitron WEGA CRT TV' s.

Sony are clearly floundering about now. They' ve made the PS3 into such an amorphous blob of technology that they don' t even know how to market it anymore.

The more we learn about Wii, the more we see how well-planned everything about it is. Whereas Sony have been making it up as they go along, now resulting in what can accurately be described as some kind of Frankenstein' s console.
