I just tried the Blue Dragon demo, i had hope that this game would help me get into Jap RPGs.

It looks nice, the yellow dude has an annoying voice though.

the problem is, i really really really hate the combat, my first battle had me so annoyed and bored it was hard making myself fight the next one.

Why cant they make decent combat in games like that?

Im just replaying Planescape: Torment, that games is leagues ahead of any rpg ever made!

Join the club. The battles suck ass. Then if you make it to the boss, you get an annoying and repetitive song that loops again and again. I have played and enjoyed a lot of JRPGs and I still don' t like this. I must admit that I have never found Square' s games entertaining on ANY system, though. Well actually Chrono Trigger was pretty good, but supposedly that was an accident. It was meant to be much worse like every other Square/Enix game.

I don' t know what I think of the battle system because it was so confusing I missed a lot. Maybe I should' ve listened to the robots in the beginning, they seemed to be talking about fighting and stuff.
What I didn' t like was that it seemed there wasn' t voice acting all the time. I' d prefer if every dialogue had voice acting, even small dialogues. Is that too much to ask from a next-gen RPG?

Or perhaps we need Blu-ray for tha...

You better be fucking kidding me,I wanna calm down and listen to the music in towns,dont wanna hear voices for every fucking person in a city.

I wan' t voice acting in the conversations I' M ACTIVE IN. Not the background conversations. Sometimes in the demo there were no voices when the characters were conversating.
Shenmue and KOTOR had voice acting in every single dialogue and those are my two favourite RPG' s.

I share the same opinion after playing it VX. I was never a bog fan of Jap RPG' s either but said I would give Blue Dragon a chance. The same boring fucking combat system that has been seen before in countless other RPG' s. Anyway I know RPG nuts will love it but it definitely doesn' t appeal to me.

No wonder why Jrpg' s don' t sell well in america except for some big franchises...

Now you' re talking. Although I have to admit that it ties for first with KOTOR in my book, as far as turn-based goes.

I' m thinking of trying Blue Dragon, even though I' ve come to hate Jrpg' s. I used to like them a loooooong time ago, maybe BD can remind me why.

Although the battle system sounds like a definite strike against it.
