It' s no secret -- Assassin' s Creed is officially coming to the Xbox 360. We expect official PR in the near future, but the October issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly confirms that the Ubisoft Montreal project is coming to Microsoft' s next-gen platform.

Wow Mikay if thats not a shining example of Denial then I dont know what it...

No worries man you still got several other games that will forever remain exclusive, whats wrong with the loss of one more? Besides who honestly out there thought this was an actual exclusive anyways?

Mmm my favorite guild in Oblivion and the one that made me wish you could replay select missions after completing them.

Its hard to tell what this game is going for at the moment, but the trailer and bits of video out there made it look like a mix of splinter cell and prince of persia set in medevil times (sort of). Hopefuly this new announcment will bring forth some details finally.

Here' s the feature list from ubi.com:

Assassin’s Creed is the next-gen game developed by Ubisoft Montreal that will redefine the action genre. While other games claim to be next-gen with impressive graphics and physics, Assassin’s Creed merges technology, game design, theme, and emotions into a world where you instigate chaos and become a vulnerable, yet powerful, agent of change.

The setting is 1191 AD. The Third Crusade is tearing the Holy Land apart. You, Altair, intend to stop the hostilities by suppressing both sides of the conflict.

You are an Assassin, a warrior shrouded in secrecy and feared for your ruthlessness. Your actions can throw your immediate environment into chaos, and your existence will shape events during this pivotal moment in history.

Key Features

* Be an Assassin
Master the skills, tactics, and weapons of history’s deadliest and most secretive clan of warriors. Plan your attacks, strike without mercy, and fight your way to escape.
* Realistic and responsive environments
Crowds react to your moves and will either help or hinder you on your quests.
* Action with a new dimension – total freedom
Eliminate your targets wherever, whenever, and however. Stalk your prey through richly detailed, historically accurate, open-ended environments. Scale buildings, mount horses, blend in with crowds. Do whatever it takes to achieve your objectives.
* Relive the epic times of the Crusades
Assassin’s Creed immerses you in the realistic and historical Holy Land of the 12th century, featuring life-like graphics, ambience, and the subtle, yet detailed nuances of a living world.
* Intense action rooted in reality
Experience heavy action blended with fluid and precise animations. Use a wide range of medieval weapons, and face your enemies in realistic swordfight duels.
* Next-gen gameplay
The proprietary engine developed from the ground up for the next-gen console allows organic game design featuring open gameplay, intuitive control scheme, realistic interaction with environment, and a fluid, yet sharp, combat mechanic.

Confirmed by Ubisoft

This is awesome. I don' t see what Sony gained from this though. Perhaps it was just having something else for E3 that Microsoft didn' t have.

It' ll be interesting to see if there are any differences between the two. Ubisoft Montreal are one of the best developments studios out there and pulled some amazing things off last gen (Chaos Theory on Xbox being the best looking game on the console).

We knew that , but it' s great that it has no exclusive kind of deal (with 360 getting it later).

As much as I hate how 360 looks I' d rather get it then PS3 (at least for those first 2 years of my Next Gen gaming).

This will hurt Sony ...and make me happy at the same time ...hmmm :)

Assassin' s Creed Q&A - Assassinating the Xbox
Producer Jade Raymond answers a few questions in light of this promising action game' s recently unveiled multiplatform development.
By Staff, GameSpot
Posted Sep 1, 2006 8:00 am GMT

Assassin' s Creed was Ubisoft' s most talked-about game at this year' s E3, but it never struck us as the sort of game that ought to be confined to just one platform. Nevertheless, the company has always insisted that this promising action adventure from the creators of the latter-day Prince of Persia games would appear only on the PlayStation 3--until now. Finally, Ubisoft has come clean about development of an Xbox 360 version of Assassin' s Creed, which has certainly whetted our achievement-craving appetites. For the first word on the 360 game, we went straight to producer Jade Raymond.

GameSpot: Why did you decide to bring Assassin' s Creed to the Xbox 360?

Ubisoft has finally ended months of speculation with the announcement that Assassin' s Creed will in fact hit the Xbox 360.

Jade Raymond: Our ambitions with Assassin' s Creed are high: We' re aiming to deliver a completely new gameplay experience on a brand-new engine. With artificial intelligence, physics, animation, and graphics ambitions like ours, we weren' t sure how many consoles we could support. But we always wanted to share our next-gen vision with as many gamers as possible. We have just recently been able to prove to ourselves that we will be able to deliver on both systems without sacrificing the quality or innovation of our original concept.

GS: How long has the game been in development?

JR: A small core team started working on the concept and technology for Assassin' s Creed a little over two years ago. Creating an engine from scratch to fully take advantage of the next-gen systems has been interesting and challenging because you have to wait a lot longer to see gameplay materialize and you' re never really sure what is good enough. For a while we had to ban the words " next-gen" because people were getting hung up on them. We had to find a sweet spot in innovation that allowed us to make progress and not get caught up in the theory of what a game could be.

GS: Will there be any differences between the 360 and PS3 games in terms of content?

JR: I hate to answer in such a lame way, but I can' t say right now...

GS: Will the game have any online features?

JR: Yes, we will have downloadable content, achievements, and all of that other good stuff.

GS: Will the control functionality vary by console, such as the PS3 controller' s tilt functionality?

JR: We are prototyping this kind of thing right now, but we are not sure yet if the prototypes will make it into the final game. We don' t want to add control features if they are going to end up feeling gimmicky. We want to make sure that everything in the game, including controls, makes sense within the overall experience and adds to it.

GS: What HD resolutions and audio will it support?

Now you' ll be able to snap necks and get points at the same time.

JR: 720p and Dolby Digital 5.1.

GS: What can you tell us about the game' s achievements?

JR: It' s hard to list the achievements in a meaningful way without going through why it' s cool to achieve them, but rest assured, they will drive the fiercest competition between you and your Xbox Live friends.

GS: Can we expect a Marketplace demo?

JR: Who am I to stop you from expecting? But I can' t confirm anything at this point in time.

GS: Thanks for your time, Jade.

Ubisoft ...I really didn' t understand their reasoning for being so tight lipped about other versions though.

I liked that interview though the achievements sound like actual work.

I like this interview aswell

GameSpot: To be clear, will Lost Planet be exclusive to the Xbox 360, or is it being ported to other platforms?

Jun Takeuchi: Lost Planet is an exclusive Xbox 360 title. Typically when the development team sets out to create a game, we focus development of the title on a single platform and for Lost Planet that platform is the Xbox 360. We have no plans at this time of porting to or developing for another console as this would potentially dilute the final product.

GS: Can we expect other Xbox 360 games from Capcom, such as Dead Rising, to remain exclusive to the platform or could they ever be ported to the PS3?

JT: As I previously mentioned, as we are creating new titles we evaluate all the platforms that are currently available and match the content to the platform. For games such as Lost Planet and Dead Rising, the Xbox 360 was the target platform. Since they have been created specifically to take advantage of the system' s capabilities, we have no plans at this time to port or develop these titles for any other console.

My favorite Ubi soft moment was when they de-bunked that leaked list of release titles.

For ex it had Enchanted arm, naruto 360 and rayman4 on it.
They was like no no just a fake list, then two weeks later they announce those titles at the same date as it said on the list.

haha you gotta love these idiots.
