Are You HD-less?
-
Jun 29, 2006 01:49
Do you have a hdtv? And if not do you still have a 360? [even a ps3 in the future] With all this hype about hdtv, It still is only just breaking onto the market, while in 5-6 years everybody will have them, its now that matters. Do you plan to get one? are you waiting? and do you really think spending a few grand on a tv is really worth it just for the nice picture? Personaly, I dont have one, But I will in the future, one way or another.

I have one, but no 360 or sky/cable hd box... the only HD i get at the moment is via my pc out connection over dvi>hdmi cable... it' s nice though for the limited use i get from it. But heck it make trailer like spidey 3 all the more nicer, luckily my tv was very cheap and overwise i would have waited some time before getting one. With all the new technology coming and advancements in existing ones, i' d say it' s better to wait. But on that same note... i guess there is always something better coming just around the corner.

NINTENDOSEGAMICROSOFTSONY I don' t have or intend to purchase an HDTV in the nearest future but in september I' ll be getting a DiBoss 23" Wide HD PC monitor which I assume can be used for playing 360/PS3 games on. But other than that I won' t get a new TV for a while as I' m really not much into this HD thing anyway. HD is a nice thing of course but I don' t find it worth the money. NINTENDOSEGAMICROSOFTSONY

I didnt think much of it til I got an HDTV. Play Fight Night R3 to see the overwhelming difference. I got a fairly cheap TV with reletively good performance, but down the line I plan to get a bigger nicer one. 26in Widescreen under $600. I use it mostly with my 360 and laptop. TV show quality isnt great but then again its ot an HD signal.

I use a nice big CRT monitor with my 360. I wouldn' t even consider buying a HDTV right now, i' ll wait until they' re the norm and all the specs have been finalized etc. When i DO buy one it' ll be a 1080p CRT though.

I bought a 30" Widescreen LG HD CRT w/1080i for 750 American when I got my 360. Under 1000 with a great picture. I too didn' t think much of HD until I got one, and now pictures on SDTV' s just aren' t the same, which sounds kind of like a stupid statement I know!

I' m using my PC monitor at the moment too. It' s not ideal as the picture doesn' t really look its best with ghosting, washed out colours and occasional aspect ratio issues, but it' s better than my normal SDTV. I' ve seen a couple of 24" widescreen LCD PC monitors that I' m interested in though. They' ve had some good reviews, the resolutions are 1200p, with great image quality, and dvi+component inputs. But I don' t think 720p will look that great as it' s not native, and I' d need some beastly dual gfx solution to run PC games at that res! Still waiting for those LCD advances and SED to show up before I decide on a traditional living room HDTV though.

Well... The thing is,as a long time pc gamer who has had played in so called " HD" for a long time i can say you this. Low res game on a TV looks perfect, but on a PC they look just wrong... Anyway im gonna buy myself a VGA cable for my 360 and use HD to my TFT LCD. However in the future, dont know when the price cuts will come,i will ofc buy myself a HDTV. But as it is today they are just to expensive and overpriced like hell.

I' ll buy a VGA cable on friday and try my 360 on a 19inch flatscreen monitor.. Is that big enough for HD? Can it be any monitor, or a specific flat screen monitor..

a 19 inch flatscreen is often like a 20-21 normal monitor.

It can be any monitor with a vga input. Widescreen monitors don' t suffer from the aspect ratio issues though. And a monitor with a low repsonse time won' t suffer from ghosting. But the washed out colours are due to the vga cable I think, but it' s mostly ignorable.

Pick 1366×768 from the resolution menu and you won' t get any vertical stretching whatsoever and a nice 720p image.

This is what you get... ...and you' ll get an RCA adapter too like this... ...so the red + white cables in image one fit into the RCA adapter and then you plug that into your audio in socket and you' re away.
