360 vs. PS3- Comparison, take your fanboyism here! - Oct 12, 2005 16:39
This is a topic I first created on the Shenmuedojo forums. Its basically a comparison of PS3 and 360. I thought I should make this, in case anyone was wondering the difference in the two and/or which one to get. I am new here btw.

MISS. INFORMATION:

In order for XBOX 360 to be backwards-compatible with XBOX games, you will need to have the 20Gb hard-drive, avalible seperatly for $99.99 U.S./€99.99/£69.99, or as included in the " Premium" package.

Blu-Ray disks can reach up to 100Gb capacity via dual-layering.

The PS3 controller obivously designed to appeal to Austrailia, which seems to ban a lot of games. Next thing you know they' ll have an Eye-toy in the shape of a didgeridoo.

XBOX 360 LIVE

> There are two types of packages on XBOX 360 live, " Silver" and " Gold" (You can imagine Gold is better; read below)

" Silver" membership is free on 360. Silver allows you to chat (w./ video! :D ), but you can' t play games unless you purchase Gold membership, avalible through ordering on the 360 live dashboard. You can also buy and update your subscription with " Subscription Cards" , much in the same way as Mobile Phone top-up cards, so you can buy that if you don' t want to give your details out over the internet (It' s what I would want to do). They' ll also have some special occasions/weekends were anybody on Silver can play Gold as well!

UK PRICING (GBP)

1 Month - Price: £4.99
3 Month - Price: £14.99
12 Month - Price: £39.99

US PRICING (USD)

1 Month - Price: $7.99
3 Month - Price: $19.99
12 Month - Price: $49.99

Oh, and anybody with a current XBOX live supscribtion, it will be transferred to a Gold account on 360. And, those on 360 can play original XBOX games online with old XBOX owners.

Silver membership and the Headset? Who needs telephones to chat to your mates? lol

All in all, online 360 is kick-ass! :D

LIVE Connection FAQ

This is for those who are confused about how to connect to the LIVE service, and to ensure you can connect to LIVE with XBOX 360. This information is also relevant for current-gen XBOX also.

Firstly, to connect to XBOX LIVE, you need a Broadband internet connection and an Internet Modem (Preferably with a free Ethernet port, see below. )

Second, you need to determine what type of Modem you have. (As I mentioned, it would be preferable to be an Ethernet Modem)

To determine this, check what plug comes out of the modem; either:

USB

Or, Ethernet

If it is an Ethernet modem, simply connect the Ethernet cable (supplied with the console) directly from the XBOX [360], to the modem. Then connect the Modem to the Phone Line [see your Modem setup guide].

If you have a USB-only modem, there are two options:

1. To Connect the Ethernet Cable coming out of your console into an Ethernet Socket on the back of your computer (if you don' t have an Ethernet Socket on the back of your computer, see below), and then having the computer connected through your USB modem. You need to set this up, and configure Windows ICS on your computer. See here for a guide on how to do this.

2. The other option (and also the only one if you don' t want to have turn your PC on everytime you want to play XBOX LIVE) is to purchase an Internet Router, avalible for around £50-£80 GBP (Make sure the particular device is compatible- ask your retailer.) This is like an Adaptor, you can connect upto four Ethernet Cabels into the one device, and hence share your Internet connection with both your PC and XBOX.

If you want more detailed information on connecting your XBOX [360] to the LIVE service, I recommend you check out The Official XBOX LIVE connection FAQ.

EXAMPLES OF GAMES ON BOTH SYSTEMS

UPDATE 31/10/05- Comparison of screens of the same game on both systems from From Software' s Armoured Core 4
thats day/month/year, yankees.

Yes, the first example of the same game on both systems. The top row is Playstation 3, the bottom is XBOX 360. However, it should be noted that it is not the same footage for both system, plus the PS3 version is believed to be one later in development.

(Unfortunatly, I cannot get larger images. However, in this case I would say the PS3 version looks best, however, again, it is a version later in development.)

XBOX 360

KAMEO: ELEMENTS OF POWER

NBA2K6

PROJECT GOTHAM RACING 3

PS3

METAL GEAR SOLID 4: GUNS OF THE PATRIOTS

THE GETAWAY 3

DEVIL MAY CRY 4

SUMMARY

Hmmm...well, everything here is subject to change. I may include Revoulution as well when info comes through.

PS3 is widely speculated to be more expensive, for slightly more power, and it no longer has a hard-drive with that, as previously billed. However of course the price hasn' t been annouced, for all we know it could £40 with 5 games, we shall see. However, PS3 has shown some truly graphically immpressive games, see the screens above.

As for competing with Blu-Ray, Bill Gates is thinking about releasing a HD-DVD drive, disks that are basically same storage compatibility. Future 360' s will probably have this drive built in.

And yes, I have posted this in many forums. I don' t care.

I remember seeing that the specs for the SP3 aren' t finalized and are having problems with overheating so they reduced the speed down to as lown as 2.6Ghz.

I don' t know they are both too rich for my blood and none of the launch games seem to interest me enough to spend the money i will wait until the price drops and the good RPGs come out and stick with my more reasonale priced Rev with just about every launch title that is suposed to be out for it a must have for me. Not to mention the download feature.

I really want to be biased towards one system or another, as bias really does make life better. I know that everyone agrees with me on that (if you don' t then you are biased against people who are biased, you ass!) But right now both systems suck so much hairy unwiped ass that I can' t even care for either! Let' s examine why both systems are worse than dog crap right now:

Xbox360
The only game that looks interesting is Project Gotham Racing. And I hate the Gotham games. It has pretty graphics and I like racers. Most other games for the system either look completely boring, look like Xbox 1 games, or look like Xbox 1 games with only updated graphics added (ie Dead or Alive 4). I think I will wait until some games that are actually worth owning are available before I buy this turd of a system. And when good games finally come, it will no longer be a turd system. But as of right now it is a huge turd wih many corn chunks in it. And it smells. Bad. If you like playing with fecal matter, you will love the Xbox360 on launch day!

PS3
Ooooooo!!! Metal Gear Solid 3 with an old Snake! This is good for only one reason: it means that hopefully soon Snake will die and we' ll be rid of the blasted Metal Gear Solid franchise forever! I loved the first game. I hated the sequels. I am no longer interested in the series. The Getaway? Devil May Cry? I can already play these has-beens on my PS2. I don' t want PS2 games with fancier graphics. This system promises to be another PS2... a whole bunch of crime games and crappy gameplay! And that controller is just awful. The only use I see for the controller is for dual-lesbian porn. Otherwise it is a horrible design and whoever thought it up needs to be shot in the face. Like the Xbox360, there aren' t any games yet that look interesting. So therefore the PS3 is about as useful as a paperweight. And since it is Sony, the hardware will be full of defects and many of the units will break down quickly and easily. This way you will already have a library of games and you' ll be forced to buy another PS3, artificially increasing Sony' s numbers. Like the 360, I' ll wait until some games come out that are worth removing the shrinkwrap from and also until they get the first few bugs out of the crappy hardware.

These are my opinions, and they are the best opinions any human could have. If there were better opinions out there, I would have them.

Joe redifer, how much games did you know about was coming to ps2 when psx was out? and what did you expect?
There will always come 50 great titles that isn' t even announced yet, that is gonna be announced or developed in 1-2 year.
Same with 360 too.
You cant judge a console for the first announced games and launch titles like Joe does.

God dammit. Why the hell do we have another PS3 vs X360 thread?!? I am really getting sick of them.

Firstly, these discussions usually go pretty much nowhere and end up in flames/trolling.

Secondly, there are already a dozen freaking X360 vs PS3 threads in this forum alone! Everything that could possibly have been said has been said in these forums so nothing new will come of it. To name just a few:

https://forum.kikizo.com/tm.asp?m=28938&p=1&tmode=1&smode=1
https://forum.kikizo.com/tm.asp?m=27948&p=1&tmode=1&smode=1
https://forum.kikizo.com/tm.asp?m=30305&p=1&tmode=1&smode=1
https://forum.kikizo.com/tm.asp?m=24393&p=1&tmode=1&smode=1
https://forum.kikizo.com/tm.asp?m=27889&p=1&tmode=1&smode=1
https://forum.kikizo.com/tm.asp?m=30139&p=1&tmode=1&smode=1
https://forum.kikizo.com/tm.asp?m=30642&p=3&tmode=1&smode=1

Then you can google " X360 vs PS3" and get another 300,000 hits if you want.

Thirdly, these threads mean absolute jack all now because it' s all based on speculation. No one has access to a PS3 or X360 yet so how can we realistically comment on them?

Come on guys can' t we be a little more original than this?

Queasycall, read my post more carefully. I say that when there are worthy games that come out, then the system(s) will no longer be dogshit on a stick like they most definitely are now. As for right now neither system offers anything interesting and is the equivalent of shoving maggot-infested rotting pork in your mouth and expecting a 5-star meal.

Anyone who posted in this thread is automatically a fanboy. If not, you wouldn' t have even looked in here because you would' t care. Knowing that we have 7 fanboys in this thread makes me sick. I am ashamed of all of you! Well except for me, I' m not a fanboy, of course.

hahaha!!! I' m involved now, and I think I can pretty much be safe from ever being accused of benig either a microsoft fanboy, or sony (Nintendo, there is room for argument....). Anyways, I just wanted to weigh in on something. Since I know I can' t afford an xbox 360, I' ve become committed to winning one through Pepsi' s one every hour promotion(it' s only every hour in canada, rather tahn 10 minutes, but considering our population is 1/10th of the states, we' re still getting the better deal)
No matter how slim my chances may be, I have to say that just the entering, and paying attention, has REALLY gotten me excited for the 360. It' s pretty much all I think about. Is it going to be the best system? Probably not for me, but damn am I ever excited to win one.

yeah i have been trying anf trying and trying ours here in the US. Here is a hint look in the rules and it will say to receive a free code send a SASE (self addressed stamped envelope) to the address and just just a bunch as you and youre parents and pets and that way you can get lots of free codes. I tried that but not sure if mine got lost in the mail it' s been a month and when i caleld they said to call back if i don' t receive them by the end of thw week and they should conpensate me. It' s a good way to get lots of codes to enter without having to spend all the money on the soda which i don' t even drink i just dumped the soda and kept the codes. We had 3 address one for the normal 1 code, another for the target 2 code sticker, and another for the 3 code 7-eleven sticker so i sent a few to each (the target and 7-11 might be reversed i forget which is which). So i should be getting 30 codes in the mail which i can try and use to win one.

GOOD LUCK

Mxpx182, I am playing along too. Phoenixxxx The best part about the contest here, you can get PINs online, by filling out questionaires, so there is no SASE. So the turn around is much faster.

Oh yeah, by the way, Joe, you make me laugh!

lol UnluckyOne, sorry, I had no idea these topics existed. I am new here, lol.

I compiled this as a " definitive comparison" if you will. Its not meant to be a fanboy trolling thread. This thread is just intented to be a full comparison for those who want to buy a next-gen console, including things such as Pricing, Accessories, even some game screens to visually compare, etc. I do update the version on the Shenmuedojo Forums (http://www.shenmuedojo.net/forums) quite often, and I post it here as well.

Hi,Twist...
Good to see you here too!u are a nice user...

My reply is that Xbox 360 will goes to have the greatest line-up of games ever seen.

PS3 will go to have some EXCLUSIVE titles and become next gen best seller,

And I' m not a 360 fanboy or either a PS3 fanboy...

I' m a SEGA fan and if SEGA doesn' t have any Hardware on this new gen...
I will remain a Nintendo fan since Dreamcast' s death...

& I hope to see Revolution at top...
But between 360 & PS3 I like 360 more...for my private reasons...
...
& if PS3 go to have more SEGA titles and Shenmue I will support it too,
In current gen Dreamcast was my best console & then Game Cube...
&...XBOX was better than PS2...

& About portables I think PSP is very big & FAT as a portable system...

lol

Its just a side by side comparison. Any fanboys can look here to see the diference in specs without making 12 pages of topic arguing about it. Although there isnt really that much of a difference. For example, in terms of processer, 360 is 500Mhz, whilst PS3 is 550Mhz. Thats about the difference of a Playstation 1' s processer.
