27 PS3 games to be playable at TGS - Aug 23, 2006 20:24

August 23, 2006 - We had a hunch that Sony' s presence at the September Tokyo Game Show was going to be big, and now we have confirmation. Sony Computer Entertainment Japan announced today that 27 PS3 games will be playable at the show.

Here' s a list of 19 of 27 confirmed playable PS3 titles. The publisher for each game is listed in parentheses.

# Railfan (Ongakukan)
# Devil May Cry 4 (Capcom)
# Fatal Inertia (Koei)
# Blade Storm (Koei)
# Mahjong Taikai IV (Koei)
# Coded Arms Assault (Konami Digital Entertainment)
# Genji (SCEJ)
# Formula One World Championship (SCEJ)
# Heavenly Sword (SCEJ)
# Lair (SCEJ)
# MotorStorm (SCEJ)
# Resistance Fall of Man (SCEJ)
# The Eye of Judgment (SCEJ)
# Warhawk (SCEJ)
# Gran Turismo Series (SCEJ)
# Minna no Golf 5 (aka Hot Shots Golf, SCEJ)
# Ridge Racer (Bandai Namco Games)
# Gundam Target in Sight (Bandai Namco Games)
# Armored Core 4 (From Software)

All but the first game were previously announced. Given its publisher (and title), the first game is likely a train simulation game of some form.

The remaining 8 titles are currently a mystery, so we encourage wild speculation.

Sony will also have a theater in its booth which will show video footage of a total of 35 titles. We presume there will be some overlap with the playable titles and the video-only titles, but Sony wasn' t clear about the matter.

TGS kicks off September 22nd. IGN will, of course, be in attendance bringing you full coverage of all things PS3.

Original Article

Devil May Cry 4, Lair and Heavenly Sword are easily the most important titles on that list and Lair and Devil May Cry 4 are big surprises.

I' ve long suspected that DMC4 would be available this year, maybe even at launch like the original for PS2. THAT would give me reason to buy the unit at launch. Lair however has only really been shown briefly in both tech demo and trailer form, neither showing real gameplay or giving an idea of how it will play. It' ll be nice to see where Factor 5 are going with it and it' ll certainly be one of the nicest looking titles at the time of it' s launch.

Heavenly Sword looked awesome at E3 and i' m really looking forward to seeing more of what we can expect from the retail version.

Would anybody care to guess what the remaining 8 mystery titles will be?!

lair, DMC4, heavenly sword, badass... also would like to see some good vids of how resistance is shaping up too.

Also wanna see bladestorm and fatal inertia, to see if they look as bad as i think they will.

Cool stuff though can' t wait. Surely there will be some sega games, maybe vf5, sonic, would LOVE to see afterburner go to ps3 too, the game hasn' t had much info for a while.

Fantastic, remember a few more titles to be shown still, so hopefully Resi 5, Mgs4, and few other join that list!

The trailers have looked ok, but i haven' t played an armored core game that was good yet. It' s the only game i ever bought where i actually took it back the next day to get a refund/swap it for another game
