Ok, i know this kind of ties in with the delay thread but it also deserves it' s own for obvious reasons.

In the U.S., about 400,000 PlayStation 3 machines will be available when they go on sale Nov. 17. About 100,000 will be available on the Nov. 11 Japan launch date.

No,it depends on wii.
And we also have to remember Playstation never sold like crazy from the start,360 ofc has a big chance and oppurtunity however i think wii is more likely to take it with its cheap price tag,and parents who need to have something their kids want but for a good price.

Does that look like a lot to you? Keep in mind Microsoft' s global launch was 1.5 million units, and there were still massive shortages.



It' s funny xbox sold 25 million ex and had 1.5 million out at launch date and went world wide.

Sony who sold over 100 million ps2 has now putted up 500k units,and left out EU.

PS3 shortages are going to be worse than PS2 shortages. This is bad news for people who want the system and for developers/publishers who will now have to decide whether or not to delay their games until the machine is widely available.

Sony is being cheap and taking it slow.
They take for granted that everyone wants an overpriced ps3 even if they gonna have to wait ...

It' s as if they had an in-office contest and gathered up, onto a single piece of paper, the best suggestions for how to make the launch a success. And then they tore up that paper and used it to wipe their asses... strange.

The EU delay and the US/JPN unit alloctions are different subjects.

the funny thng is , they still say , they will deliver 6 mln units till march 2007

The japs are all about Honor, Sony cant be seen giveing the majority of its units to a forign land, the 100k for Japan is just to ensure that they keep Japan and with the Nintendo Wii coming, they it.

Sony will be hitting America hard, everybody will want one, but nobody will get one. If you cant get it, you want it more, Americans need everything now and fast, they will eat up a large amounts of launch units.

Poor old europe gets the end of the stick again. But at leasdt its not too far away.

I wonder whether this will have any effect on the price of titles at launch. With the install base being so small publishers might be inclined to sell the games at a higher price to ensure they meet their projected profits.

I wouldn' t be surprised if the EU launch is delayed until summer, i guess it depends on how quickly they can feed the Japanese and US markets.

I remember the ps2 launch, in europe, it was delayed. And the first batchs of consoles headed to the uk where in fact taken and sold in America!, this delayed the ps2' s launch in europe even futher.

If they do this again. I swear, Al qaeda will be getting alot of support!

Well what pisses me off is that " riiiiiidge raaaaceeer" dude kept going all over the web saying the launch goes very well just for a week ago and said they was gonna ship over 4 million units before this year and ofc do a world wide launch.

And now it might be just 2 millions,and not even bothering with Europe.


I just hate how Sony keep their fans as trash or schoolboys they can lie to constantly.
