Chivalry is not dead!! - May 03, 2007 23:47
http://www.qj.net/WoW-player-harrasses-woman-in-game-gets-beat-up-by-woman-s-husband-IRL/pg/49/aid/91058

Bronco Carson, a World of Warcraft player from Mexico, reported to police on Saturday that three men broke into his home and beat his arms with clubs and totalled his computer. The reason? Carson had been repeatedly ganking the WoW character of the wife of one of his assailants.

Carson reportedly told police that he had been " making it hard for her to get far in the game." The woman had already threatened Carson online, and Carson said that he had already been constantly harassed in-game two weeks prior to the attack.

And then Carson made the mistake of giving the woman his address, telling the woman that " if her husband was man enough to just come meet me to settle this."

The result? Carson got two broken fingers and a fractured wrist during the assault. His computer and entertainment center were also totalled by his three attackers before they left. " I knew that I might be messed with in the game but I didn' t really expect her husband to come looking for me," said Carson. " I couldn' t have been more wrong."

Now let this be a lesson to everybody. Taunting people behind the relative safety of the Internet may be fun, but don' t be stupid enough to give out your real home address. If you do, then it' s a whole new ballgame.

What an arse for giving out his home address, he had it coming to him. Especially with a name like Bronco Carson. I blame the parents.

That ranks up as one of the funniest stories involved with video games that I' ve ever read. You wouldn' t want to do that in Canada let alone Mexico. He got what he deserved for being that belligerent. Ganking is fine, but people take these games extremely serious at times, and anyone with half a brain wouldn' t hand out their address to some random that they grief.

Too bad chivalry is mistaken for assault and battery in the modern world.

I' m of the strong belief that some people simply need to be hit.

Why did this person need to be assaulted? Because he was ganking some chick who was too incompetent to switch to a different server? Then he gives out his address where three people assault him with weapons?

Sorry, but the replies on this thread are nothing but stupid and illogical. The guy did NOT have it coming, the bitch who was bad at a shitty game like WoW and ordered three men to assault one is the person who should have it coming.

This is 3 v 1 because of a computer game. This is not the dude' s fault. This is the woman' s and her cowardly spouse + friend' s fault.

3 v 1? That' s not manly, that' s pathetic.

I' m sitting on the fence with this. Sending people to beat someone up over a game is retarded. The fact that it was 3 on 1 makes it even worse as Billy brought up. However, who gives out their address online without expecting a fight?

There' s this person online that I hate, we' ve been arguing for months. He said he wanted to crack my skull so I gave him my address and asked him if he needed directions. I don' t expect him to knock at my front door but I' m hoping he does, it' s the reason I gave him my address. The only reason I gave it out was to meet this asshole in person. For any other reason a person deserves to get their ass kicked.

The thing is, if you give out your address to people online you have to be prepared for a visit. He has no one else to blame for that when he left himself wide open. He invited them.

I might just be speaking out of my ass here, but wasnt chivalry the code of honor that knights of the middle ages had to follow, which involved things such as being kind to ladies, not battling an unarmed man, etc?

Yes it kind of was the code of honor ;) Though it has been interpreted somewhat differently over time and from person to person. Three against one isn' t really part of it though, hehe.

Was the woman only making verbal threats in-game, or did her husband or a friend also have a character in-game that was already making it hard for the guy anyway?

The guy deserves a little punishment, but it should all have been done in-game

A guy spending all his time griefing and ganking another player. Is so fucked up, that IMO he deserves to get smacked around a bit. Maybe it' ll teach him to be a better person.

I mean if you find it fun destroying things others like, be it a game or anything else, then i dont hold any respect at all

I don' t understand why people continue to be stupid about this. THIS IS A VIDEO GAME. Complain to a GM. Complain to Blizzard. Switch to a different server. Do not physically attack a man 3 on 1.

He didn' t deserve it, it was a fucking video game. What I' m saying is fact, what other people are saying is stupid.

Actually he did deserve it. He was the antagonist from the beginning. When you antagonize other people, you are trying to get a reaction out of them. In this case, the reaction was him getting beaten up for his own arrogance and stupidity. It doesn' t matter what the scenario is. The fact is he was trying to provoke a reaction. And he got one.

This is natural selection at its finest.

As long as the guy who played the game didn' t break any of WoW' s rules it' s OK. If he did break the rules of WoW she could' ve talked to the WoW team to get him banned or something.
If he didn' t do anything wrong then all I can say to that woman is
" he who joins the game must take the consequences of the game" .
if she didn' t like it and the rules approved his actions then she should' ve stopped playing.

The men who attacked the guy broke the rules of society, a much bigger crime than breaking the rules of a videogame. Clearly, this shows that some retards really can' t see the difference between reality and a virtual playground.
A disgrace to us real gamers.

As someone who plays it, i can tell how annoying griefers can be. and its not just a matter of moving server you play with other friends there. The Gms arent very helpful..

I still believe he got what he deserved! I wish a lot of people a slow and painful death when they repeatedly annoy me.

Exactly, the stupid bitch who was so caught up in a video game she had to get friends to assault a man because of it. This bitch should be assaulted by three women with weapons, AND have her character banned. Suicide would occur, society would improve.

Natural selection my ass.

The guy was being a jerk, he got what he deserved.

Its like if your kid was playing soccer, and every match they had, a guy would come running into the field and take their ball, its not illegal. Or if your gf was being followed by a guy, he would never say anything to her, but just stare at her all day long. thats not illegal, its fucked up and he would deserve getting his ass kicked!

No, they should not be beaten up. Because we are better than that.
Btw, taking someones ball is illegal. Theft.
Stalking someone is also illegal, maybe not everywhere but whatever. It should be.
But even though a guy is stalking someone he shouldn' t be beat up as long as it' s harmless. He should get help instead, and if it turns out he' s insane then ust put him behind bars.
That' s how a society with rules should work. If you wanna go caveman on people then go ahead but I asure you, it doesn' t solve anything in the long run.
