WHERE ARE THE FEET?! - Aug 28, 2004 18:01
Has anyone noticed that in first person shooters, even the polished doom3, the character you control never has legs or feet?? Why is this? It can' t be that hard to put some legs or feet on can it??? I wish they would just think of the basics...

Is it really that important to see your feet in a FPS?

Unless you need to see creatures that are attacking your lower extremities, you really do not need to look down that far.

Are you wanting to shoot yourself in the foot?

For alleged self-inflicted wounds, you may want to ask Kerry! (just kidding, not!)

Just my take on the subject...

You can see your feet in both Halo 2 and Riddick (mmmm Riddick)

You can? Why?

What purpose does it serve? Is there a significance to being able to see your feet, or are they just going for the realistic look? ...with the feet thing, that is...

What next...are they going to make it so you can twist to either side and look at your a** just to see if it' s too big?

Well in Riddick it helps you immerse yourself into the character. You see his hands also and the movement while you are controlling the character is like a real person. Now in Halo 2 I can' t really comment, but I have to say that it probably won' t make it as immersive as Riddick.
