To Love and Women!!! - Nov 18, 2004 22:18
Before thine own sight I see but black,
Not even the sight of my hands was mine.
All I was left was but my ear to witness the sound,
Though the darkness was still as the night;
I heard all around me and beyond……………

Alas in the distance a strange sound rises,
A sound never heard before my curse.
The sound flowed as it as silk into my ear,
It was then my eyes opened to the heavens;
In my sight held the vision of wings of feathers……………

Was this a dream or merely the shadows playing tricks,
Dream or not I wished for it to eternally last.
At first I saw one then another came with the current,
Before long more came to the creatures side;
Angels!! as they were playing in the heavens………………….

The wind caressing every curve of their heavenly bodies,
As it glided through their pure white feathers.
There I sat in the shadows and watched,
Their flight graceful and poetic with every wing stroke;
And their voice as they giggled with joy ……… such is woman!!

THE GRISESLY WIFE

" Lie still, my newly married wife,
Lie easy as you can,
You' re young and ill accustomed yet
To sleeping with a man."

The snow lay thick, the moon was full
And shone across the floor.
The young wife went with never a word
Barefooted to the door.

He up and followed sure and fast,
The moon shone clear and white.
But before his coat was on his back
His wife was out of sight.

He trod the trail wherever it turned
By many a mound and scree,
And still the barefoot track led on,
And an angry man was he.

He followed fast, he followed slow,
And still he called her name,
But only the dingoes of the hills
Yowled back at him again.

His hair stood up along his neck,
His angry mind was gone,
For the track of the two bare feet gave out
And a four-foot track went on.

Her nightgown lay upon the snow
As it might upon the sheet,
But the track that led from where it lay
Was never human feet.

His heart turned over in his chest,
He looked from side to side,
And he thought more of his gumwood fire
Than he did of his griesly bride.

And first he started walking back
And then began to run,
And his quarry wheeled at the end of her track
And hunted him in turn.

Oh, long the fire may burn for him
And open stand the door,
And long the bed may wait empty:
He' ll not be back any more.

Her voice is as calm and soothing as a whisper,
Skin as smooth as the purest silk found.
A new rose I have found is unique in her right,
Her caress is as soft as the lightest of cotton;
And eyes pure of corruption and deception.

But this rose as unique and lovely,
Isn’t mine to behold as my own.
This thorn less beauty belongs to an angel,
A heavenly creature who loves and nurtures her;
She watches over this rose as would a gardener.

I sit and watch her quietly when she’s alone,
Watching and hoping for her glance or a chance.
I see her from the shadows where her glance abstain,
For she lurks at the sky’s abundance;
Awaiting her angel to return again.

To be able to touch her gentle lips,
And taste her nectar is yet a wish even once.
Her hugs are here and mine to receive,
Her kisses are spoken and symbolic of friendship;
But my dream is to be like a humming bird and explore her curves…………….

~that’s another object of my affection to which my grasp has eluded or it eluded me from ever being!! My new rose name unspoken and feelings unshared.

Side by side their paths uncrossed and unseen by the other,
Warriors in their own right and cause in the battle of life.
Mind and soul unified as one to defend the body it accompanies,
A sword by which they live by and survive;
And a sheath to protect it from the cold as it sleeps.

In their eyes a vision of a shadow appears,
Through one eye rises a figure of nobility and honor.
While the sight of another bares only the whisper of the breeze,
To which holds the scent of a man;
The scent of a friend or foe which is yet to be discovered.

In the blink of an eye their companions are awaken,
Soul’s exposed to each other as they gleam in the sun’s brilliance.
From the sky a shadow gains life and leaps forward,
In his hand a silver streak arched downwards to attack;
All is seen are the eyes of an assassin.

Awaiting in the path of his strike his pray stands,
Eyes forward as to anticipate his death on the gentle breeze.
His hands grasps the handle of his sword to ready for defense,
The hunter strikes with the swiftness of light ;
To that moment the two path’s cross as their soul clashes.

A little background information - My Dad was a police officer who left my Mom when I was 9 years old. I had contact with him until I was about 26 years old...but it was not all pleasant.

Suddenly, without warning, my Dad just decides to move to Las Vegas...he used to go there once a year for vacation. I found out about his decision to move a day before he left! I never got to see him before he left...

Since that time, I have had no contact with him...he hadn' t provided any fowarding information to any of my siblings.

One night, I had this dream that he was dressed as this old-style sad-clown (from a picture that my parents had hung in their room). He was saying goodbye...and walked down the street, turned the corner, and disappeared around the corner...never to be seen again. I abruptly awoke from my sleep to discover that I was sweating...I had a very strong feeling which lead me to realize how I felt about my Dad. These two lines are the final two lines of my poem.

My Father

Life was well,
But times did change.
Grew weary of the family,
Things just weren’t the same.

Departing hurt,
For one so young.
Life goes on,
Many now shun.

To be like my Father,
Respected by his peers.
In time to realize,
Lived a lie all these years.

Not a judge,
Or here as his jury,
I am just a son,
With pain I wish to bury.

He moved away,
No contact since then.
I miss my Dad,
To talk with or see again.

A dream of finality,
Seemingly so real.
Invokes a thought,
The way I truly feel…

I do not hate my Father,
I just wished he’d loved us more.

Since that time, I have had the chance to see and speak to him again. Though his schedule was a busy one (he was in town for his step-daughter' s wedding), I still got to see him and his wife (grandparents to my kids). I took a few pictures, so that my kids would always have a way to see who their grandparents were. I am not sure that I will ever have the chance to see him again, since he rarely visits Saint Louis...but I am glad that I got that one last chance...if even just for my kids' sake.

On a gentle breeze I hear the hum,
A harmony to sooth the anger within.
Though her beauty is unseen by mine own eyes,
And her voice unheard by thine ears;
I can still hear her sing softly.

She is one full of cheer and joy,
As her smile could melt the coldest of hearts.
No star could compare to her eyes,
Jus as silk could not match her softness;
Her beauty as flawless as a black pearl.

Not even Venus could hold a candle to her,
Though as blasphemous as it may sound.
My worship is owed to her and non other,
As I lay petals to her feet as she walks;
Her feet kept safe from the harsh world.

An entity I have not seen,
Nor have I heard or even touch.
I have seen her soul and spirit in my dreams,
And hear her voice singing to ease the pain and worry;
Listening to her, she whispers her name “Anne”

µ

P.S.~ thanks for being my sunshine…………..
