Market analysts NPD have suggested that the Xbox 360 was the best-selling console in the US over Christmas - with the Nintendo Wii trailing by just 200,000 units.

According to the firm' s preliminary estimates, as reported by CNBC, around 2 million Xbox 360 units were sold in North America from November up until December 25.

The figure for Nintendo Wii stood at 1.8 million units - despite the fact the console only launched in North America on November 19, and the first batch of stock sold out within hours.

Stock shortages were an even bigger problem for Sony. Around 750,000 PlayStation 3 units were sold during the same period.

NPD is expected to release complete figures later this month.

NPD aren' t privy to and so don' t include Wallmart sales too so the actual figure will be higher.

I think it' s safe to say that Microsoft hit and overshot their 10M sold projection. Roll on Jan 7th and Bil Gates' keynotes speech at CES2007.

They' ve done a good job so far, but Nov/Dec arent a very good glimpse of what is to come thanks to a lack of supply for ps3' s and even wii' s in smaller cities. Time to see what 2007 brings in the console war, this is the year that each company really needs to shine.

To elaborate a bit, most ebay PS3' s have hit about $100 usd above retail, some even at retail. Most people marked their consoles at 1.5k, & when they couldn' t get it, they lowered the price at too slow of a rate to keep up with demand, so they got shafted. I actually saw some poor guy selling a 60 gig for 500 because he had been shafted so many times by non-payers.

Looks like all this its pure bullshit, god i hate the net and its rushed news.

We' ve got a ridiculous amount of 360s and they sell at a decent rate now. The bundle with NBA 2k7 boosted it for a bit but its slowed some. The Core unit is slowing dissappearing with less and less to restock with each week.

As i already said, NPD' s figures wouldn' t be final anyway as they don' t take Wallmart sales into account. CES has already started and Microsoft' s keynote speech is in a couple of hours and will be viewable HERE If they announce that they' ve hit 10M or more then it' s big news as it means that Microsoft will stay the current market leader until Christmas 2007 when they' ll probably be overtaken by Nintendo. Sony won' t catch up until 2008, if at all.

To be honest the PS3 sucks rigth now, im playing nothing on it since i only have Resistance witch its an awesome game but its just one game, and even tho as a bluray drive the machin its awesome there are very few good movies. Well at least i wil play Virtua Fighter 5 before any of u bitches[:' (]

Scandinavia together is arounds 8.7% of the marketshare in Europe which is up to ca 50-70 million potential buyers.

Since ps2 sold here 44 million and gc+xbox ca 5 million each.
