The Getaway 3 set in Amsterdam - Jul 25, 2006 01:04
I' ve been abroad for a while now (traveling aussie en asia), so this is the first time I logged on since the last of april. Now that I' m back in Thailand, I got really curious about the latest news on ps3 so I checked kikizo of course.

Watching the E3 trailer on the Getaway, I noticed straight away that this looks a hell of a lot like Amsterdam (holland). Since I am from Holland I also noticed the yellow sign on the right with " cafe slachterij" written on it, wich is Dutch for " Butcher Bar" . Since there isn' t any bar with that name that I know of, and google didn' t find any too, I guess this is an imaginary cafe. This could also mean that the creators of the game got rid of their " 1 on 1 real life copy of a city" like they did in the prequels. Having seen the piccadilly trailers, one could also think that the game will be located in both London AND Amsterdam this time, since they already had the geographical and photographical data of the first city.

This last part is all speculative of course, except for the amsterdam part, which I' m pretty certain of.

I' ll probably won' t be the only one who' ll be happy to see the f***** traffic ' ll be on the wright side of the damn road for once (even though I' m pretty much used to driving on the left side of the road, now that I' ve been in Thailand and Australia.
(not that it really matters in those driving games, but still)

Now excuse me if this was already out in the open, but I couldn' t find any thread on the getaway here on kikizo, so I figured this is " news" you' d want to know if you didn' t already (I would).

I anyone would want to give me any updates about this kind of games... I' d be happy to! use this thread to do so or give me some links for anything interesting.

for now, greetz from Thailand (come here for on holidays for cheap booze, cheap (beautiful) girls and cheap accommodation! take my advise!!!

Interesting theory but given they have also shown extensive work that has been done on Piccadilly Circus in the E305 and TGS06 trailers then it means that it' s still London, though it would be pretty cool to see some action outside of London/UK as well.

I have heard that alot about this game, and it isnt London, so it is set in two different cities. Probley playing two different people, one good one bad. Just like Black Monday. But this time it could be decent.

Most games take real world locations and change the names of the stores and companies in the game, as it is very time consuming and expensive to get permission to use Trademarks. Just like Rainbow Six: Vegas. The casinos, as far as I know, are names something slightly different than the real ones. Like the Bellagio being changed to the Villagio!
