Is it? Consoles normally run a 5 year cycle, why shouldn' t this generation be any different?

One year from now I will play awesome games on the awesome PS3 laughing at your pathetic 360 excuses of what you call games.
And you' ll be forced to buy a PS3 too if you want to enjoy the same pleasure. And that' s when you lose. That' s when the PS3 rules YOUR world boy.

Keep relying on that, I can sense the fear in you.
The GTAIV content was bought with money, not by the power of the 360 hardware.
At least the PS3 version of UTIII will have special content that would never be possible on the 360, simply because the PS3 is better hardware.
MOAHAHAHAHAHA! I can feel your pain! Go and play with your inferiour hardware while I go and play with... a f***, the same shit as I don' t have a PS3

I still think the Ps3 is lacking in the graphical department (textues to be specific), I wonder why they cheaped out on the graphcs card, when they put all that other expensive stuff it.

I do however still consider the Ps3 cheaper than the 360 (thinking of all the stuff you need to buy extra for the 360 to compare in specs with the Ps3), also, clearly the 3 is the ugliest machine this Gen. It' s no a matter of taste, it is FACT!

Wasn' t the Cell supposed to handle everything? But then they realised that that' s like.... stupid so they made a last minute decision and got the RSX...?

well it wasn' t important for the main reason they built the PS3 (a Blu-ray player in every home), but they soon realised they would get caned on the games front so shoved in the first thing they found at the back of cupboard.

If you want to play PS1 games on the emulator you need a PS3.

I thought the PSP was a PS1?

And coming soon: Download your favourite TV-shows on the PS3 and watch them on the go with the PSP.

Its called a DVD play ginj

The GTAIV content was bought with money, not by the power of the 360 hardware.

Though this doesn' t matter for the consumer really. The important thing is if something' s available on a specific console.

I myself don' t care at all about all the extra functions in gaming consoles. To me, they should have one purpose : play games, since that' s what I buy them for. Watching dvd' s, ripping music, downloading things etc. can often be done easier on other hardware. Very often that hardware is also better and cheaper than what is included in a console since they have to cut costs somewhere.
So for me, having all those extra features in consoles are just unnecessary costs. I' d rather have cheaper pure gaming consoles.

I think it' s weird when people say the PS3 is actually cheap. It isn' t, it' s still a high price but what is true is that it might have a high value with everything included. It would be easy otherwise to put supercomputer technology (I mean a real supercomputer then, not supercomputers as Sony likes to see them during press conferences) in a console, sell it for a million euro and call it cheap just because it has advanced technology in it ;)

And there are already Bluray players now that cost less than the PS3 so this might affect the sales a bit for those who only want a Bluray-player.

RSX is fine, it' s actually very close to Xenos, even surpassing it in some situations. The reason textures in PS3 games tend to suck is because the videocard only has access to 256mb of Vram and Cell has the other 265mb, while the GPU in 360 has access to any amount of the 512mb minus whatever the CPU is using.

So the 360 might be using 350mb for the GPU (including textures) when the PS3 can never use more than 265mb.

At the same time, the GPU in Xenos has 10mb eDRAM to do 4XAA almost for free. Anti-Aliasing smooths out jaggies, but it takes some proccessing power and some video ram. This only makes the difference greater if a PS3 game is to have AA.

The PS3 actually has more raw proccessing power but it' s crippled with less accessible ram.

There' s nothing there to unlock. Ram is concrete, it' s either there or it' s not. In the case of the PSP, clock speed is largely determined by the electricity passing through. You can always change the clock speed by changing the voltage. The PSP was designed to run at 333Mhz, but Sony capped it at 222Mhz untill now. Don' t ask me why.

Majik mentioned the other day that with better techniques and development tools they will be able to use the RAM they have more efficiently. However these same techniques will be used on the 360. The 360 will always be ahead of the PS3 in this area.

That' s an add-on not an unlock. However it might be a good option. Where would you put it? N64 was designed for an add-on. PS3 is not. It has USB ports but they would be way too slow, same for the flash cards, just too slow. It would be interesting if they could make it work though.

They don' t need to figure out a way. The PS3 is good as it is right now. Just look at the games they' re able to make. Killzone 2, GT5, Ratchet and Clank. LOL, with more power than that the PS3 could last longer than 2 console cycles of MS consoles.

Well since the average MS console only lasts about 6 months that shouldnt be hard to do

What if there is no way to figure out? Im not sure if youre a computer person, and if you are Im sorry for explaining something you already know. RAM is faster than any memory type possible, that includes USB, Flash, Discs(BluRay included), and even Hard Drives.

Just look at the games they' re able to make. Killzone 2, GT5, Ratchet and Clank.

Thats a large list you have there ginj

BTW Ginj, I bought Metroid Prime 3 today, and Ive played about 3 hours. It handles good, but its nothing special, I still prefer 360Pad or M/KB for FPS. Lock-on in my FPS? WTF!

Ah, you' ve bought one of the greatest games in hist...

And lock-on in my FPS?

Oh wait, sorry I thought you were talking about the real Metroid Prime 3 there for a sec.
I only play the official versions that are adventure games. Great, great adventure games.
The first person shooter you speak of is something I' ve never heard of. Maybe I' ll try it out one day but I think I' ll be happy with my adventure games for a looooong time.
