Wii Tie Ratio at 8:1 in December - Jan 25, 2008 18:12
http://au.wii.ign.com/articles/847/847472p1.aspx

According to the software data tracking service, consumers purchased 8.11 games for every Wii console sold in December. This relates to 7.76 games for every Xbox 360 sold during the month and 5.04 games for every PlayStation 3 purchased in the same time frame

My point is any console is capable of good attach rate with quality games. Even the little old Wii

But i know that...

Very strong sales of titles like Super Mario Galaxy, Wii Play, Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games, Guitar Hero III and more contributed to Wii' s high tie ratio.

While Nintendo' s console certainly flourished in December, perhaps signaling the beginning of solid tie ratios to come, it should be noted that Wii' s life-to-date software to hardware tie ratio is at 4.64, compared to 4.26 on PlayStation 3 (despite a much smaller installed base) and 7.0 on Xbox 360, according to NPD data.

the 360 is still the reigning attach rate king.
Plus i dont care if u dont count Wiiplay, coz they do!

Uh... you haven' t been able to buy the console on it' s own for at least 8 weeks. If you want a Wii, you' re forced to buy a bundle. In the UK, major retailers are forcing people to buy 5 game bundles... in the US, you' re buying 3 game bundles + an additional remote which includes Wii Play.

8:1 isn' t an accurate representation of how many units of software people are buying per machine. You can' t count Wii Play and you can' t count bundles if they' re the only available SKU' s.

If when the Wii is freely available the tie ratio is still this high, make a thread about it. Until then, use your fucking brain and don' t waste our fucking time.

And it was still only 1 month. Its funny that even with all the bundles and other garbage, its attach rate isnt beating out the PS3 by that much.

Sure you were. And today i embraced the Christian faith.

It wouldn' t have been a discussion. You can' t discuss misrepresentation - which is exactly what your post was. Like i said, i' m up for discussing something concrete, but what you posted was a fanboy fuelled inaccuracy. 8:1 is inaccurate for the resaons i stated above.

I don' t give a flying fuck what the almighty IGN want to count. Wii Play is a pack-in, and so even though some people will have actualy wanted it, many will have just been buying a controller. You can' t deduce the correct tie in ratio for December, you can' t even get a ballpark figure - because the only consoles you have been able to buy are bundles and stores pack in the games they can' t shift as opposed to games that are in high demand. I can' t get a bundle that includes Galaxy, Prime, Chronicles and NiGHTS. If i could, i' d own a Wii. But i don' t want Red Steel, Hot Wheels: Beat That!, Happy Feet, Crash of the Titans or High School fucking Musical - so i don' t own a Wii yet.

You don' t want to play with us any more because we' re big meanies? Great. It just means we don' t have to tollerate a dumbass fuckwit who doesn' t know his head from his ass and only ever posts about Nintendo.

It saddens me to see games such as Mass Effect and Uncharted not surviving the onslaught of " fantastic AAA" titles such as Mario and Sonic and Mario Party 8

I think it' s just the effect of gaming getting more mainstream so other people than " us" are buying games. And they tend to like party games instead of the more complicated, epic and so on stories. For example some people I know who never played games are totally into these games on the PS2 : all the different Buzz, Guitar Hero, Singstar etc. iterations. And it' s not just them, I' ve seen these games amongst the top sellers for a long time now at the biggest online stores here. Even above some great new releases.

I for one don' t care too much about it. They buy their stuff, I buy mine. There will always be some company that wants to create more involved games. Even if other things are what the masses buy.

I think it' s just the effect of the Wii being a relative " steal" compared to the 360, or PS3, with cheap family friendly software to keep the kiddies and aunt Muriel entertained, so other people than " us" are buying games.

Fixed.

Variation...

Taste...

Without a source for the chart, neither matters here.

the problem will be in the future if publishing companies (as opposed to developers) see the charts and decide there is much more profit in pumping out mediocre party/family games and they stop doing ' proper' games for gamers. Then we lose out.

No they lack of variation and also love picking and choosing, theres alot more Good to Great titles in that (probably wrong list) List you could of mentioned but instead you like to pick on the few bad ones... well Only bad one was Mario and sonic (cooking Moma, sight and brain training are good in there own right, if you understand anything about involved, directed creativeness, inwhich your braincell clearly can' t ' get' ) even high sales of M&S are understandable, having the two biggest Name franchises in it' s title and all.

If Nintendo likes to lead the way in running rings around it' s competitors with these new type of games and strategy im all for it, so long as it keeps them in the business and i can enjoy the odd ' good' ' fresh' casual game and more importantly enjoy their traditional Killers like MG and the the soon to come SSBB, im happy. [/*** the animation, movement, scaling and overall fluidness of this game puts most PS3, 360 titles to shame, Nintendo are the king of optimization alright.[color]

Thanks VF.

I can' t believe Ghost Squad is selling better than CoD4 on PS3. Not only that, but IMAGINE: BABIES is selling better than Drakes Fortune???

It' s criminal.

Involved and directed creativeness ? I am sorry , I am 23 and i dont think filling up blanks to complete equations or memorising words is going to help me in any ways . If it works for you then go ahead and play them . I am not trying to start a fanboy fight or anything but i cant stand when good games dont sell . These types of games might be suited for cetain people but when games like uncharted dont sell and i see these games hogging sales i cant stand it .
