First of all McAfee is useless.
Secondly it' s probably not a virus, it looks like malware or spyware to me. Download these, update the definitions and let them scan your computer and get rid of all the shit fucking with your rig. They' re free and they work. Run one at a time.

Ad-Aware SE

Spybot- search and destroy

AVG anti-virus

AVG anti-spyware

I also use Webroots spysweeper which works very well (bought it). Anyways, download all of them and run them all one after another. They should take care of your problem.

How registry literate are you? If you are confident then I would try removing from the registry, as some anti malware programs don' t do the neccessary.

Even when knowing how to clean your registry is really good to know. That doesn' t always remove the spyware from your computer. In many cases as soon as you reboot you' d be back where you started. Although I' ve had spyware that was so nasty that I had to clean the registry before these programs could do anything.

Anyway, your friend deserves a swift kick in the balls.

McAfee is useless.

Yeah, but Norton is a horrible tentacle beast that chokes your computer and continues to curse from beyond the grave (aka after you uninstall it).

I use McAfee; Norton just wasn' t worth my soul!

But yeah, Ad-Aware is a solid line of protection. I only used AVG once before.

Do you guys use PeerGuardian? I mostly use it cos of bittorrent, so it blocks government IPs.

I don' t use any, because unlike byakko here, I' m not a complete fucking imbecile and I simply avoid viruses.

Byakko goes around trying to download hentai pictures with .exe extensions then wonders why her PC is infected, in other words - a fucking moron. My point is, don' t be a fucking moron and you will be fine, that is the best way to get rid of viruses forever, just stop being a fucking idiot. It' s really simple.

I don' t use any AV either. If you know what you' re doing you' re perfectly safe. As long as you' re the only one using your computer.

Its a shared family computer. I used all the things you sent me links for and, although I did get rid of a lot of other shit, this Spy Locked thing still hasnt gone!!!

These days my homepage is http://asafetyproject.com/ and my computer has really slowed down!
In the bottom right hand corner of the screen is a little ? which then flashes to a Banned sign!

THIS IS REALLY STARTING TO PISS ME OFF!!!

Any miracle cures?

I suggest copying this and printing it as you' ll need to close all windows as you run through it.

Download SmitfraudFix.exe from here and save it to your desktop:

Next, reboot your computer into Safe Mode by doing the following:

1. Restart your computer

2. After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.

3. Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear

4. Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

5. When you are at the logon prompt, log in as the same user which you had done the previous steps.

When your computer has started in safe mode and you see the desktop.
Close all open Windows.

Now, double-click on the SmitFraudfix icon that should be residing on your desktop.

When the tool first starts you will see a credits screen. Simply press any key on your keyboard to get to the next screen.

You will now see a menu as shown in the image below. Press the number 2 on your keyboard and the press the enter key to choose the option Clean (safe mode recommended).

The program will start cleaning your computer and go through a series of cleanup processes. When it is done, it will automatically start the Disk Cleanup program as shown by the image below.

This program will remove all Temp, Temporary Internet Files, and other files that may be leftover files from this infection. This process can take up to a few hours depending on your computer, so be patient. When it is complete, it will close automatically.

When Disk Cleanup is finished, you will be presented with an option asking Do you want to clean the registry ? (y/n). At this screen you should press the Y button on your keyboard and then press the enter key.

When this last routine is finished, you will be presented with a red screen stating Computer will reboot now. Close all applications. You should now press the spacebar on your computer. A counter will appear stating that the computer will reboot in 15 seconds. Do not cancel this countdown and allow your computer to reboot.

Once the computer has rebooted, you will be presented with a Notepad screen containing a log of all the files removed from your computer. Examine this log, and when you are done, close the Notepad screen.

If this fails then we' ll go through how to get to it in the registry.

The registry can be a monster if you don' t know what you' re doing though. I wouldn' t suggest that automatically.

Before you do what Nitro suggested, download & run SYSTEMJACK.exe from

www.websecuritysolutions.com/syscleanup/malwarekiller.htm

I' d suggest running this as a preliminary and then moving on to Nitro' s suggestion, as it clears out much of the simple visual-basic crapware that floats around the intertubes. PM me for questions on installation.

Some of these anti spyware programs " create" spyware instances on your machine to get you to pay.

you could try Panda IS2007 there is a trial version that might just sort you out.

http://www.pandasoftware.com/

I use it and it is not a resource whore like Norton' s and it is quite comprehensive in removing and preventing threats.

run the malware killer then the smitfraud, if your still screwed then it will be cleaning the registry time, and if that fails you might have to see if you have a restore point that is dated prior to your adventures in porn land.

Fish wacker, all you need to do is to perfom a system restore to a date before you had problems. That will take out spylocker from your registry and then run a scan from each of the programs I mentioned to remove Spylocker hidden in your files.
