SoulCaliber for XBLA
-
Apr 17, 2008 18:14
Link April 16, 2008 - At Namco Bandai' s Editors Day event in San Francisco, Namco announced plans to bring the original Soulcalibur exclusively to the Xbox Live Arcade later this year. This makes 2008 a banner year for Soulcalibur fans on Xbox 360 as the latest entrant into the series, Soulcalibur IV, is set to release July 29. The port of the classic fighting game will feature every character and mode that the original did as well as online leaderboards. Local multiplayer matches were tossed out as a selling point, but no mention was made of any new online modes and the game was not shown in any form.

Well there you go. And just as a heads up, those rumors about DC being in it are false. Especially the pic that is floating around with it. Aparently there will be no Shokans (Goro' s race) at all.

Mortal Kombat 8 was announced last year when Midway licensed UE3.0 for it. The speculation about today stemmed fom the fact that it' s Midways gamers Day event in Vegas. It could mean nothing, ...it could be a trailer. Nobody knows. It has however been under discussion on GAF for well over a week. Gamesradar are supposed to have some sort of exclusive tomorrow concerning " one of Midways biggest franchises" . It' s obviously MK8... but who really cares? The games haven' t been good since Mortal Kombat 4.

ORIGINAL: mastachefbkw Aren' t they starting over with completely new characters or something in this one? It' s going to basically start the series over. Some of original stars will be back but they are trying to pull away from how exaggerated the game was getting and go back to the basics. I' ve been told the characters will no longer look like " action figures" and the game as a whole will be significantly revamped. I' m really excited to see how it looks.

I' m not really sure, but since its about MK I doubt it. I think I remember someone mentioning it to me along time ago, or maybe on G4 or something like that. EDIT: Didn' t see Rampage' s post.

I don' t know where the DC vs MK thing came from though. Probably some freak fanboy who' s pining for another Marvel vs DC game. However... although the story would be rediculous... the character roster could be interesting in a game like that: Johnny Cage Jax Kano Kitana Kung lao Liu Kang Mileena Nightwolf Noob Saibot Raiden Reptile Sub Zero Scorpion Shao Khan Shang Tsung Sonya Baraka Bane Batman Doomsday Harley Quinn Joker Lex Luthor Lobo Mr Freeze Riddler Poison Ivy Scarecrow Two face Desaad Superman Nightwing Robin

Whatever they do, I sure hope they actually make a decent fighter this time around. The old games used to be great, but once it went with the whole " 3 half-baked styles" combat engine, it went downhill.
