Last I heard, the hangup with cloning is that the clone ends up beginning its life with the same types of age-related issues that its source had. I.E., Dolly the sheep, however old she was, say 10 years old (I don' t know the real age offhand). Her clone was a baby that had genetic characteristics of a 10 year old.
